If he really did make a straight gangsta album, then yeah, he would kill the industry.
Just look at some of his recent gangsta songs.

true story....duno what hes thinking? give the people what they want, snoop!

we all waiting for the future "tha doggumentary" album. he better change back to making westcoast gangsta funk albums soon, coz his fanbase is dwindling. this is just what he needs to revive it

he will not because he is parent & has kids . sorry but snoop grew up & so does every body else have to.

I think he can have a nice blend of the 2. Blue Carpet Treatment and even R&G showed that.
-
it would have to be a lil more than just a "gangsta" album (whatever that is... ?-?-?). all Snoop could use is a spark in his flow and material. that gangsta shit would come natural, if he would actually make an "organic" album with all in-house homies from way back and some from the freshmen class like Nipsey, Chuck Inglish on a hook, Terrace & B.O.B on some beats (together), along with Devin, Brotha Lynch, Chrissette Michelle and/or Raheem DaVaughn on a ballad, and some nigga from Baltimore on a beat and a verse (and NO house music shit). Straight Gumbo Nigga Shit foreal. Throw in some Quik then a lil' Dre in the mix somewhere throught some tracks, who knows maybe Daz and Warren too, The Twinz and The Hustle Boyz behind some Niggarachi shit sprinkled with some Soopafly and Scoop laced with some WC and Tity Boi and it'll burn. Spice it up with some Outkast and Pharrell with a happy people playa mack twist with inspirational love strings and a strong voiced female adlibing side to side with Pharrell.
Really, all Snoop should do is master inspiring violence and corruption mainly and setting the tone with a soul-calling mood setter... he just has to have fun doing it and making it sound good, theatrical maybe (like "who let these hoes in my room" and like some of his old mixtape tracks). They sound good making songs that have that Temptations and O'Jays "paradie" (for lack of better words) to them. But selling albums to todays masses is like trying to have the whole world shop at one Carry Out and have everybody like the same mombo sauce. Short albums are your best bang for your buck anyways...
-
Yeah i agree with most posts. In house production and features, thats all he needs to do. Not so much R&B, simple as that. But yeah topic matter dose come into play also.
-
BCT was probably the closest to gangsta from Snoop we'll ever get again.
-
Snoop doing songs with soulja girl so he supporting the fake

The thing is, when he make a album like Tha blue carpet treatment he actualy sell more, becouse this is something that people can relate to.. He is trying to be relavant by trying new stuff on every album, the only thing he is doing is biting his own tail.
He is a role model for alot of young rappers when he is doing something new alot of them follow.
-
becouse this is something that people can relate to..
Can you relate to his gangsta songs?

westcoast gangsta rap aint dead
It took steroids to the head and became Shortyo
-
Snoop acting all gangsta would be so fake
-
yeah everyone knows snoop aint a gangsta so why would he make a gangsta record. then people would laugh at him harder than they already do
-
To me , his problem is the topic of his songs.... if he fixes that he will be straight.. you cant be like ''Rolling 20 crips for life'' then go on national tv claiming the opposite
-
It's a known fact fame evolved Snoop into what he is today. You can't have that much fame and want to remain the same, and if you do you're a fucking fool.
His lifestyle is completely different than when he first started. You can't expect him to talk about the same ol shit. That's stagnant and it'll keep you in the same positions.
However, I will say Snoop has shown he can make solid ass songs like "I Wanna Rock", & "2 Minute Warning". Actually, I'll go as far as saying these two are the some of the best songs Snoop has made. Then again, just like everything here, it's all a matter of opinion and nothing more than that.

I don't think it even has to be gangsta just have some damn substance in his songs. All his songs now are just repetetive ryhmes that mean nothing then just matching words together. he use to have more to it like murder was the case, in luv with a thug, i miss that bitch...now we get gangsta luv haha! and the sad thing is in a recent interview he said he could kill all these mc's if he wanted to...well what are you waiting for?

yes but that doesn't mean that he have to rap on some plastic, slowed-down-technobeats. all he should do is bring a little funk & innovativeness back in his game

Snoop is too busy trying to appeal to the masses than making a gangsta album. The ironic thing is that he isnt selling and by dropping a gangsta album he would prob sell the same amount but actually give his core fanbase a good album.

he might even sell more, because gangsta shit is just another sub genre of rap. i mean why get a snoop album to bump at clubs when u can get the akons, jeezys, waynes, etc etc

what slowed-down-technobeats ?. there was none of ego trippin . there is none on malice. so what are you talking about? the beats on ego tripping were more old school 60's & 70's R&B & funk style like snoop grew up on.

man..."slowed down techno-beats" because of the plastic, synthetic sound...i know that all these crunk/hyphy music ain't really techno, but it's simple sound reminds me on it...come on you know what i mean!..
and ego trippin wasn't funky at all on my opinion.."cool" was the only song i remember on it that was really funky. "sexual erruption" and tracks like that maybie inspired by 70/80's disco ish, but that ain't the raw and dirty funk that i was talking about.
i mean i was a long time snoop fan...i never thought that he would go pop that way. i mean he could do another "R & G", wich was really funky in my opinon even if there wasn't that much gangsta-talk on it, but at least it sounded like snoop. what he does now, he follows every damn trend in the game and the sad thing about it is...he don't need it..the man should have enough money to do what he wants to do

see what you called 70/80's disco ish, is real 60's & 70's R&B that snoop grew up on not 70/80's disco. i am expert on all kinds of music & mostly the old school. 60's & 70's R&B that snoop grew up on was never the raw & dirty funk that you were talking about at all. snoop did not go pop except for the southern beats . snoop dogg went back to his roots before he rapped . the roots his mom raised him on. go listen to music from 60's & 70's & you will see .also that plastic, synthetic sound was made in 60's & 70's & not the 80's at all.

Yeah right! As if Snoop wouldn't act like he's super gangsta, hammering hostages' legs in videos. So much for the 'grown-up' part.
-
this bullshit again ? snoop aint making no more fucking gangsta albums stop making these threads its getting kind of annoying

see what you called 70/80's disco ish, is real 60's & 70's R&B that snoop grew up on not 70/80's disco. i am expert on all kinds of music & mostly the old school. 60's & 70's R&B that snoop grew up on was never the raw & dirty funk that you were talking about at all. snoop did not go pop except for the southern beats . snoop dogg went back to his roots before he rapped . the roots his mom raised him on. go listen to music from 60's & 70's & you will see .also that plastic, synthetic sound was made in 60's & 70's & not the 80's at all.
the older snoop albums had a heavy p-funk influence...that raw dirty funk, that's what i was talking about...
the 60, 70's R&B that you probably mean is that al green, curtis mayfield stuff...i heard nothing of it on "malice"..i woul say "g'z up hoez down" and shit like that was definetly r&b influenced..he also did the great cover of that curtis mayfield song from supafly on "R & G"...you know, that's exactly the sounds that i been missin. i mean, no disrespect to the south but besides that i don't like the sound, i don't like that snoop is tryin to follow instead of leading.
a whole album with the snoopadelics would be nice
