Sales don't determine artistic value. A lot of good albums are released and simply don't sell. The fact that Snoop is still releasing albums that still sell a fair amount 10 years after the Chronic came out is praiseworthy in and of itself. How many other artists that were big in 1992 are still around?

Are u worried about snoop's future ? LMAO
Snoop is a rich muthafucka and u dont have to worry about his future.....
he will not pay your bills so u need to worry about yourself instead of a rich motherfucker like snoop

The West ain't dead, hell no! The West will never die. It's in a slump, but niggaz is strugglin' to get up & get crackin'. The West will be the king of the hill again... What's needed is that West Coast Sound. (I know I'm FIENDIN' for it!)

Snoop's doing just fine...Dude has his own label, clothing line, movies(mainstream and porn,lol)...So what if his album sold under 200k the first week...It will probably go platinum anyways and Snoop will rip a couple of tracks on Detox and people will forget about this album...

West was horrible this year...sales and content wise. Shit...we need another '99 and '00.
-
Noone's buying it because it's garbage and they don't feel like wasting their money.
-
but people by ja rule and hes garbage...The west needs another break threw star...I think Detox will sell alot of albums..Also..The west needs to be ressurected in some form
-
a lot of you dont realize..but the west is almost dead...and it is dead here in the east..ive havent heard a new west coast single all year...im not kidding either
-
youre worried about snoops future? he has no future,
he fucked up his future when he left death row
-
*awaits karma to jump from -1 to -20* ::)

lol... I think Snooop is doin better then Tha Row...
-
personally, i think there is 100'S of artists on the west that could become very very very mainstream if they had the right business contacts.
I know for a fact that for example Latino Velvet's old shit could become bigger than Nelly is right now overnight if someone hooked them up wid some cats who were ready to invest money in their promotion.
The reason east sells so much is because they have better businessmen running their rap artists than west coast cats do.
Everybody on the west coast wants to have their own Indepenedent record label, and such labels dont have money to promote.
Only major label of the west coast that had huge promotional money was Death Row and thats why it became so big...but that was the ONLY one, where NY has Def Jam, and wuteva labels Ja Rule is on...blablabla...

snoop deserves to go tin when he puts out a weak attempt to go mainstream again. i don't know about you guys but i'll support an underground TRUE westcoast artist more than i'll support a sell out like snoop. go ahead and hit my karma up because i made fun of your daddy's, but you all sit here and make fun of ja rule for putting out love songs (snoop) and wack ass music (snoop) you guys need to look in the mirror.
and how are we supposed to show love for the west when alot of westcoast artists aren't even showing love anymore?
dre doing east coast shit
cube doing movies
snoop putting out wack music
xzibit trying too hard to become a household name
and you guys saying that these "old acts" have to hang it up, when in fact these are the very people that can save westcoast rap. they have the ability to push major units just off of name alone
we'll never see some 21 year old westcoast artist break through.
1st of all, they won't get any radio play.
2nd the record labels will only fuck them over.
3rd you won't see they're videos.
for any of these three problems to be solved, westcoast has to become mainstream. but we all know westcoast rap isn't in a slump, it's dead until it gets it's act together...

I don't care about sales.

200 thousand units is not bad at all. He's still in the top 20 on the billboard 200 and he's #3 rap hip-hop charts. I'd look for him to go gold in about 2 weeks. If he drops the next single and it does good, I see him going platinum in about 3 months.. If everything stays as it is..
People trip too much, selling around 200 thousand units is not bad at all. Considering that he's going against some real big names. I'd say he's doing good for an experimental album.
