he a beast he the reason y argentina is gon go deep in the world cup

Its funny how people get emotional and make a decision after seeing one game. Humans have short memory and its always the latest that stays in peoples mind. MESSI is a BEAST! he's def. among the top 10 or 20 of all time but I can never make up my mind on who is actually THE best of all time. How can u gage that? some of the greatest players never won anything, maybe due to their team, lack of luck, INJURY etc....so does that mean they cant be considered cuz they didnt win anything? NO!
Overall, there are so many players that i can think of in terms of being greatest. Messi is lucky to be in one of the best teams of all time but for ex is Aguero in the best team? no...so i think we should just learn to appreciate and enjoy these players rather than put a title on them. People are so quick to judge and put titles but everything changes with a game. If messi has a terrible game, then everyone goes back and says oh nevermind.

A player doesn't have to win the World Cup to prove he's deserving of a G.O.A.T title, mainly because players don't win championships. It's going to be tough for Argentina to a win a World Cup, especially since he has a complete fucking idiot as the head coach.

;)
Messi this season is even better than last year if it's possible, this season with Barca has been unbelievable.
He can bring 80.000 people to the stadium for every single match, even when Barca play against shitty teams...
And i'm not saying that he's the goat just for his 4 goals against a very poor arsenal, he has been a beast for the whole fuckin season,Messi is already maradona x 2

A great player shows he is able to play at both club and international level. He's proved noting internationally and until he does, he will not be the G.O.A.T.

the champions league is already an international level, so your pathetic point of view is not valid.

im merely pointing out that Invincible is clearly talking about the fact Messi has not proven himself at International level, as in playing for his country, which the champions league is not. It may be a tournament consisting of clubs from various nations around europe, but it is not the same
did i mention how great it is to have you back. just when people were getting used to the peace ;) 8)

The Champions League compared to the World Cup sometimes is even more difficult, so this old and stupid concept that you must win a world cup to be the best is played out.
If we compare football with basketball, Kobe is a loser according to your ridiculous point of view :D
i don't even know why i'm wasting my time with you ::)

Messi is the best player in the world at the moment but he isnt even the best Argentinian ever let alone the GOAT.
Maradona single handily took mediocre sides like Napoli & Argentina and turned them into scudetto and world cup winners.

you can say what you want about maradona and napoli, i know that barca is a stronger team.....but messi is just 22 years old and he's the 80% of the team

you cant say 80% of the team that totally devalues the impact players like iniesta, xavi, alves, puyol have on the side. Last year Henry and eto were just as valuable in terms of goals scored and impact.
Off the top of my head some great argentine players(im not gonna list every argentine i know) are
Di Stefano
Passarella
Batistuta
Kempes
Cannigga (was one of my favs as a kid)
Burruchaga
Redondo
Zanetti
Simone
Riquelme
Ortega (wasted his talent and career)
I could go on and on listing players currently playing and others from previous sides but i dont really see the point

Messi is already a better player than all those from your list, football is played differently now....back in the days was more rough and row, but Messi could have played even during those rough days

my original point was that he isnt better than maradona, now a days maradona with the protection refs give players would be even better than he was back then.

but football has become more tactical and physical. It's more difficult to shine as an individual these days.

Messi can go on to become the G.O.A.T, but he's only 22 and has at least 10 seasons ahead of him.
I don't think we can call him GOAT until he's played like this consistently for another 3 - 4 years which, to be fair, he probably will; I haven't been so awed by a player since Zidane and Bergkamp.

Nope, Bergkamp was a legend of my generation. Not on Zidane's level, but some of the things he did week in week out in the EPL were something else.

Ronaldo (Brazilian one) and Zidane are greater players than Messi.
-
I freaking hate Messi and Barcelona but the only one better/on the same level in this generation was Zidane. You can't call Messi G.O.A.T. yet because he still needs a couple more consistent years (remember Ronaldinho) and winning the WC would be the icing on the cake. And his right foot is still weak.
-

kuruption you should watch the Liga sometimes...
I watch plenty of la liga, Yes he is the best player in the world but you cant be calling him the G.O.A.T when players like maradona, pele did what messi is doing for a sustained period.
At the moment id even say Roberto Baggio is better than messi for what he did throughout his career. Now if messi carrys on this way for another 5 years or so then its worth having a discussionon if he is the G.O.A.T

lol i will give you props for being a WUM (Wind up merchant)
You do realise he scored 77 goals in 92 games for Brazil, winning three world cups. So its pretty clear he could score goals against any side, not to mention his first world cup win was in 1958 and his last n in 1970 where he also voted player of the tournoment. Thats 12 years of scoring goals at the highest level.
Ronaldo (Brazilian one) and Zidane are greater players than Messi.

u dont need to win a WORLD CUP to be G.O.A.T.
if that was the case then only players from brazil, italy, germany, argentina, england and france are eligible ::) ::)
makes no sense....what about all the SPANISH, DUTCH, PORTUGESE or any other nation...not every nation is capable of winning world cup, doesnt mean ONE INDIVIDUAL is disqualified from being the best player eve

12 years just with the national team, the rest of the time he was playing in a shitty league....BIG DEAL.
he was just training himself for the world cups

and you're an asshole, ronaldo has been the best player just for 3/4 years.
i know what i'm talking about,i've seen him live for the whole amazing season 97/98, but he was done after the first big injury.
messi now is like ronaldo at his best.
r9 was my favorite player ever, but you should analise his whole career. ::)
-
these discussions always make me laugh. is messi really any better than maradona? is anyone really any better than zidane? was pele better that eusebio? its always funny to me how people never mention eusebio in the goat discussions, its always pele this pele that. his record for benfica was quite staggering, 648 goals in 614 games thats insane, thats scoring at a high rate for many many many years
-
Messi is a LONG LONG way off being the g.o.a.t. For starters, in football history there are 50, maybe even 100 players who have achieved more accolades both personally and through their performance for their team. Sure, come back and say this when Messi is 35 years old and about to retire and ask the same and we'll be closer to telling you the answer.
-
Some of the posts in here are disturbingly idiotic.
The worst one I think was that a player can't be considered the GOAT if he doesn't win the World Cup?
So under the same logic, if Michael Jordan played most of his career with the Trailblazers and didn't win a Championship ring then he wouldn't have been as good?
Back to the original post though - Messi is out of this world at the moment but I refuse to be drawn into discussing a 22-year-old as the greatest player of all time.
Get back to me in 10 years.
-
It's pointless to compare players from different generations anyway.
-
that fool is R.A.W. but not G.O.A.T
