1.under the influence = couple good songs , too many fillers
2. Trauma - i never listen to this cd anymore , but i used to like 2 songs .
3. Blaqout - First 3 songs are good , the rest is generic misguided noise ..
Is it time for Mr Quik to retire and just stick to producing now ?

I DOUBT IT :loser:

Man fuck the haters, all 3 of these albums were dope. Most people with ears agree that Influence and Trauma were dope. Opinions are gonna change about Blaqkout after a while. Its only 12 tracks, and some of them are hella wack, but I'd say there are 7 tracks that range from "pretty good" to "best songs in years."

I gotta agree. Quik has been on a steady decline. Last album I liked from him that was an overall dope album was Safe & Sound.
Dopest Quik albums:
Quik Is The Name
Way 2 Fonky
Safe & Sound
Rythm-A-Lism
After that, it becomes blurry.

for YOU

I started to lose interest in Quik after Rythm-A-Lism, not to say it was a bad album it just wasnt that great compared to his old shit. Trauma...I liked a few songs off that it wasnt all good tho. BlakQout sucked bad, the only song I actually like is 9x Outta 10. I think I'm over Quik, I think he should retire aswell along with Warren G his latest shit aint G-Funk and thats what I want to remember him for
-
Its hard to take someones opinion serious when their favourite artist in 2010 is mc eiht and they still think hes relevant.

Wow. Just wow.
-
I can listen to UTI front to back. Only liked a couple on Trauma.....BlaQKout was a disappointment, The Fixxers album too.

i might hav to check UTI out, but I agree with the rest of the shit u said. Fixxers was way way bad
-
UTI is terrible, only a few good songs on it.
-
Under The Influence was his last good album. Trauma and BlaQKout were below average.
-
i didnt like UTI very much. oh well and murda 1 case are my shit but most of the album was pretty underwelming to me.
either way i agree he needs to get his head straight. his production seems so simplistic compared to his old shit.
-
i know what good and whats garbage
I DOUBT IT :loser:
Quik has the best catalogue in Rap. Not one weak album.
-
i like quik, some of his other albums after rhythmalism seem to be hit and miss with everyone even did hard quik fans. hopefully The Autibiography Of David Blake brings us all back to agreement that quik can't be fucked with.
-
what the fuck you want quik to do? go back in time and fix these albums? quit your fuckin bitchin and move the fuck on
-
UTI and Trauma had bangers on them. Not as good as his previous but head and shoulders above what most people are putting out right now.
-
Blaqout was horrible. Quik stans gassing
-
To me i prefer the newer albums compared to the older ones
-
Is it time for Mr Quik to retire and just stick to producing now ?
Uh, who do you think produced those three fucking albums you're bitching about? I mean, why say "stick to producing" if you're clearly not feeling the production.
-
Quik still raps better than 90% of rappers.
-

Well, the problem with a lot of fans (especially of the West Coast) is they only want the same formula and when you move away from that, they get dismissive toward it. With Dr. Dre and DJ Quik, they only want them to make records with a certain select group of artists, even if it's fucking redudant. They have no patience for change for the most part. I don't care so much who the artist works with as long as the collaboration brings out something entertaining in it. Cats are fucking track list critics. They're already deducting points from the album before they hear it if this person is on it and that person isn't. I think some artists benefit from not being put on the same pedestal. A lot of folks liked "The Fix" and if you look at it, it was Scarface rapping over Neptunes and Kanye West beats with Jay-Z, Nas, and WC as guests. Face has never been heavily dependent on having it just be strictly Houston or Rap-A-Lot or Geto Boys collabos. He fucks with whoever. Obviously if the album has a West Coast theme, the artist should try to include artists from the region but in a lot of cases, the fans are throwing expectations out based on assumptions.
-
uti was kinda ill, i ain't like all of trauma and didn't like blaccout at all,but quik is a creative person so he is gonna take chances so when he drop the next one i'm a still checc for it off that alone yell
-
Under The Influence and Trauma were good albums.
Real Spit...I don't even count blaqkout....but this nigga rides eihts dick...so this thread is no surprise.

yep, thats what i was about to say, he's still stuck on that beef that they had in the mid 90's
-
Blaqout was horrible. Quik stans gassing
If anybody thinks Blaqout holds up to any of Quik's other releases, they're a damn fool.
-

Real Talk My Nigga! 8)
-
1. Never heard "Under the Influence." It's one I've meant to check out for a long time, just never got around to it.
2. Loved the album "Trauma."
3. Agree about "Blaqkout." It was overall disappointing.
-
Quik needs to just produce and stop making albums , its not the same for me
-
you can put it in your head all day that quik is still dope if you want . i dont play follow the sheep on dubcc
-
its not in anyones heads that Quik is dope. It's on CD right in front of us. Snatch Quik out the Hip-hop genre, and he will still be considered a very clever musician and song writer.
-
quik is still dope.
-
I mean sure his had his disappointments (The Fixxers, that track featuring Bizzare - the NFL theme, Maroon 5 Remix and a couple of other side projects) but the albums mentioned in this thread aren't any of them.
-
I didnt like UTI very much, Trauma was good! , Blaqout was decent.
-
not a fan of uti but trauma had alot of dope cuts... and blaqkouts main problem is just that its too short
-
what the fuck you want quik to do? go back in time and fix these albums? quit your fuckin bitchin and move the fuck on
What I would want Quik to do is make shit like he used to, real shit. Thats y i fav Kokane over any other rapper, because he has never changed and his shit makes sense.
Quik sounds like every other rapper to me now, thats y I cbf keepin up with him. Im stickin with Safe + Sound n gonna pretend that I never heard his new shit. I wanna remember him for the real shit, not this fukin Blaqkout trash
-
Blaqout was horrible. Quik stans gassing
If anybody thinks Blaqout holds up to any of Quik's other releases, they're a damn fool.
So were not alowed to enjoy it?
Why does it always have to compare to his better albums. ???
-
Quik needs to just produce and stop making albums , its not the same for me
Or maybe you should just stop listening to his albums. Leave them for the people that still enjoy his music.
-
He fell off when he stopped doing west coast funk and tried crossing over to mainstream. Quik needs to go back and do an album with Suga free, El debarge, Hi c, Crawf Dogg and collab with Snoop, Too Short and the real coasters.
-
He should stick to production now, he's an old g, married, children 'n all. Otherwise he would have to rap about socio polical stuff which he ain't good at (that would be common knowledge otherwise). He also should create a brand /label" Quik" for marketing purposes and produce young cats
By the way, 3 bad albums in a row ? I'm affraid i have to disagree, uti was not that bad and actually, imo, contain his best quik's groove to date and trauma had lots of good tunes.
