Title: I just found this article on a hilarious bank robbery scheme.
Post by: The-Leak (aka) kingwell (bka) JULES on April 28, 2010, 05:07:57 PM
I was searching for the name of a movie (it was Armored) and I found this..  Pretty funny that it actually worked. I hope that dude used a proxy. =D  Too lazy to search if he finally got caught or not..

From Oct, 2008

In an elaborate robbery scheme that's one part The Thomas Crowne Affair and one part Pineapple Express, a crook robbed an armored truck outside a Bank of America branch in Monroe, Wash., by hiring decoys through Craigslist to deter authorities.

It gets better: He then escaped in a creek headed for the Skykomish River in an inner tube, and the cops are still looking for him. "A great amount of money" was taken, Monroe police said, but did not provide a dollar value.

It appears to have unfolded this way, according to a Seattle-based NBC affiliate: around 11:00 a.m. PDT on Tuesday, the robber, wearing a yellow vest, safety goggles, a blue shirt, and a respirator mask went over to a guard who was overseeing the unloading of cash to the bank from the truck. He sprayed the guard with pepper spray, grabbed his bag of money, and fled the scene.

But here's the hilarious twist. The robber had previously put out a Craigslist ad for road maintenance workers, promising wages of $28.50 per hour. Recruits were asked to wait near the Bank of America right around the time of the robbery--wearing yellow vests, safety goggles, a respirator mask, and preferably a blue shirt. At least a dozen of them showed up after responding to the Craigslist ad.

"I came across the ad that was for a prevailing wage job for $28.50 an hour," one of the unwitting decoys, named Mike, said to the NBC station. As it turns out, they were simply placed there to confuse cops who were looking for a guy wearing a virtually identical outfit.

Authorities eventually found the getaway inner tube (a getaway inner tube!) and suspect that accomplices may have picked up the robber in a boat. According to the NBC affiliate, police hope to track him down by figuring out who posted the Craigslist ad in the first place.

Craigslist founder Craig Newmark was not immediately available for comment.

yeah it's about twenty minutes away. That river he got away on runs right from town out in to the back woods. Better than any surface street exit.

I know a better bank robbery scheme.

This actually happened:
A store selling pot earth opened up right across from a bank, they didn't sell just any earth, but earth they got from under the store.
The earth they sold came from a tunnel they were digging from their store to the bank.
Then in one weekend, after they finished the tunnel, they broke into the bank from their tunnel, stole millions of dollars and disapeared.
Some people have been caught but the money hasn't been found yet.

i heard about this on the FHF show..

some white guy bought a black guy mask and wore that while robbing a bank.  it wasnt one of those 99 cent masks, it was a professional hollywood type of deal.   i think they said it costs like 600 bux....anyways, he put it on and robbed the place and the police were looking for a black man.  lmao

they eventually caught him tho...idk how, i forgot all the other details.  but i thought it was a good plan.  it woulda been better and he would probably be free right now if he used the mask + a fat suit!  lmao

lolol. I saw on WSHH a week ago a news clip of someone who was a 70 year old man or dressing up like one and robbing banks.  They said he's done it like 3 times before and they still cant catch him..  They showed a security cam of the dude walking out of the bank and damn he does look hella old LOL.  Maybe it's some career criminal trying to relive his glory days.

thats pretty nuts but that article sucked. i mean it just says "escaped on a river" i mean was the truck right next to the river or did he have to bail to where he had an innertube stashed haha. also i wonder how much he got seeing as he robbed the truck and not the actual teller
