how many funny ones are out there actually??
99% still have the same black/white jokes that are 30 years old, not many of them are original, its always about blacks not liking nature (funny enough some africans live in nature ::)) and parents beating them, comparing whites and blacks
katt williams was funny for a bit but he got old, too much cursing
mike epps was real funny in one special but his last one blows, he even repeated some the same jokes or just recylced them in another form
chris rock, dead
wanda sykes, was never funny
i just cant think of many off the top of my head

Chris Rock's last special wasn't that long ago. You can't expect these guys to be busting out a stand up special every year, especially Rock who is always doing other stuff.
How many actual comedians out there right now are elite though? My favorites right now are Louis C.K., Aziz Ansari, and Zack Galifnakis but none of these guys have reached the level of Chris Rock, George Carlin, and others you know.

Steve White is pretty good. he also had a bunch of cameos in Spike Lee's films throughout the 90's. Slept on comedian that does a lot of racial humor. (In a funny way, not cooning)

yeah,not everyone is built the same.The way I see it,he just saw how big he became and took a serious look at himself and thought about wether what he was doing was helping or making it worse.You know dave was the social conscious type,just look at the rappers he would have on the show lol.

He started catering to mainly white people and became somewhat of a baffoon. I think thats supposed to be the reason he wanted to stop doing the show. The producers wanted him to keep up the act, and he didnt like it. Something like that...I dunno. The same shit happened to Carlos Mencia. He was way funnier before he came out with his show.

Carlos Mencia was pretty funny back in the day...when he just did his old standup HBO specials. But his shit just got so watered down for Comedy Central.

what has chris rock done that was so great? his movies are garbage and he had maximum 2 good stand ups, bigger & blacker and i think the one before it...after that it just became kind of recycled...same topics just reworded
see when u compare comics, i look at quality, not how famous they are...i can get a better laugh from unknown comics than some well known ones

russel peters is more understood among people with some kind of foreign background, most americans who are not so exposed to outsiders cant understand where he's coming from...its like when a black comedian talks about the ghetto and a white collar white guy wont necessarily feel him....russel's strong point is the accents he does and how he makes fun of indians and asians so much, they're so spot on. Most people dont understand george lopez cuz they werent raised around mexicans but his shits funny to me cuz i grew up among mexicans in jr high and high school

Its true i dont watch stand ups like all the time but i watch enough and i know of most of them u mentioned and really none of the ones u mentioned that i know of are even close to fucking with chris rock imo. A russel peters is jokes and for real he can drop some great jokes but he aint touching chris rock....dave attel and bill maher? hell nah.
Some of those cats u mentioned are funny but on a level with one of the great modern stand ups like chris rock? Hell no and why are we talking about his movies? lol, that aint got nothing to do with stand up, shit dudes movies are wack, i wont even argue that but dudes stand up is a whole next hype.
Like someone said, there are cats who are funny and then there are those who are truly great stand ups, and chris rock is easily a great stand up comedian and his shit is both smart and funny too.

alright well i didnt make this thread to bash chris rock, so im gonna stop cuz he's one of the best out there, but my point was a general one about comics of this day and age...its actually not only blacks but all comedians seem to go for ethnic jokes nowdays

aha...im glad u brought that up...difference between him and other comics is he actually uses pretty good examples that are close and make sense...not some random comedian who sums up all people with black hair to middle easterners...for example they'll make fun of an iranian guy and relate it to a camel or desert when in reallity iranians arent arab, we dont have camels and only 25% of our country is desert
