Pac responded, "Just play along this it's just to sell some records" (if you dont believe me watch it for yourself)''

Just because one person says something doesn't thats IT. Plus, it's second and third hand information. Not credible.
-
Exactly. This is what Big told his mother. That doesn't mean it went down like that. It certainly doesn't make it verbatim.
-
with all due respect ... how would she know?
-
them equals who rob'd pac both him and big knew, big was put in a weird position of i can't tell who did it cause that's my boy too,pac got upset over that, but on some networth shit i could see pac saying something like that yell
-
pac was way too emotional of a ballerina to do some "business only" shit like that, you know he was punching holes in the walls and having temper tantrums over the biggie beef
-
It probably was to sell records. If a dude set you up to get killed would you not do shit and instead make a song about it?
-
All this biggie set him up shit is bullshit. pac was shot because he was talking out of line of some real new york gangsters and he got spanked. It really is simple as that.
He went after biggie because it was the easy option....in my opinion that was a pussy move.
-
The real truth is none of us were there and we will never know what the real truth is,everything is just speculation and opinions.
-
i remember biggie saying this shit a while back, its obvious biggie made this shit up 2 justify him getting punked by pac,he had to say something because pac was makeing him and new york look like pussys, and pac was shot because some pussy as new york niggas tryed to rob him and he wouldnt give up his shit so these retarded wonna be gangstas shot him and couldnt even do that right.biggie was a bitch and new york niggas isnt gangsta.pac went at biggie because biggie knew who did it and knew it was gonna happen before it happened.

There are more bitches and cowards walking around with guns dude. That doesn't make sense to you?

But if you think about it, Pac never specifically said that Biggie himself set him up; not in songs (as Hit 'Em Up's references to Biggie were mostly about Pac having fucked Faith and how he thought Biggie was a poser while Against All Odds didn't mention Biggie) or in interviews (as he had always stated that had Biggie been as rooted in the streets as he claims in music, then Biggie would've been able to pass information along to Pac regarding who shot him and why they did it, though that didn't happen). While the verbal assault on Biggie wasn't completely called for, I do understand why it happened. And while you do think that Pac going after Biggie was a "pussy move," that was only his first intended step; let's not forget that he actually did start naming names on Against All Odds.
But back to the OP's main point, I do remember watching that VH1 Behind the Music and thinking that Voletta Wallace was nuts, and that she had her own unintentional spin on her interpretation of the events that had happened. She made it sound like Pac was fronting and just doing what he was doing solely as an act to sell records. Perhaps during their conversation at the Soul Train Awards, Pac really did mention something about selling records, though maybe in a manner saying that he would outsell him.
-
Yeah he also started gang bangin at 25. Dude was a puppet in every-sense-of-the-word.
-
lol after Notorious is anyone really surprised???
-
this should go in the gspot section.
-
The thing is does it really matter at this point? We're talking about what someone's mom said about an event that happened almost 15 years ago involving two people who are no longer here.

exactly. all of this old westcoast shit should go in the gspot section. everything from the chronic talks (unless it's newer material being heard) to whatever the fuck came out before 1999.

lol, what the hell do you consider a gangster? The guys who get jacked for their jewelry and make song about getting shot? Smh. When you watch movies like The Godfather and Scarface, are these the type of guys who get shot and then do nothing about it? And to state the completely obvious, clearly 2Pac walked around with a gun as well. It's fucked up he got shot, and he was a great music artist, but he wasn't a gangster. Face it, the only reason you give Pac a pass is because he is a legend and one of your favorite rappers.
-
if its true....shows what suge did to pac.....lol

Pac said in plenty of interviews that big, puffy and Andre Harell set him up, most famously in vibe where he went into a lot of detail.
He also says it at the start of one of his music videos

I just re-read the Vibe interview, he doesn't say that they set him up. He just says that Biggie was there, but also that Puffy and Adre Harrell were both there too but didn't approach Pac at all or even look at him, according to him. Yes, Puffy got the blame for some of that stuff, but not until the later Vibe interview (that was just released on YouTube last year) and then eventually on Against All Odds.
And even in "one of his music videos" (2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted obviously), the intro was clearly spoofing Scarface, but he never says anything about Biggie having set him up. Ironically, the Biggie lookalike goes "It was Buff's idea; I'm just a rapper, please don't take me out the game," plus behind Biggie and Puffy in the video sits a King Tut statue on the bookshelves, which wasn't a coincidence.

what's the significance of the King Tut statue?
-
what's the significance of the King Tut statue?
King Tut was a New York gangster who was believed to have been one of the guys who stuck up Pac, if I'm not mistaken. He's mentioned in Against All Odds ("Now you got to watch your back, now watch your front/ Here we come, gunshots to Tut, now you stuck").
I don't think it was put there in the video behind Biggie and Puffy by accident.
-
Damn! What's up with all the Pac bashing?
When did Pac start gangbanging? Pac never claimed a color he did claim one thing though..."being the Realist nigga out there". Rap has changed, new rappers out there are real hard core and yall forget that even though Pac may not have all the stripes as these new guys, he did provided inspiration to them. He was one of the first to bring awareness of the hardships of the black male/female. He spoke on things that are timeless, that make you think damn, this is valid today. Listen to "The Good Die Young" and you can't help but think of current news events (plane crash overseas, Dutch boy survives), or bump the hell out of "Dear Mr. President" during the Bush error.
...c'mon yall don't let these new age hardcore rappers forget our legends, cuz even they will tell you these legends set the stage
...on another note, Against All Oddz (mentioning these ny gangstaz) was released in November 1996.
big and pac, two legends, that overtime would've patched things up...if not just end the shot takin
-
He was one of the first to bring awareness of the hardships of the black male/female.
No, he definitely was not. If anything, he was a throwback to the more politically-conscious black artists who came out of the 60's. He was hardly the first.

Not to mention Chuck D, KRS One, Cube, etc. all came before him. He may have been the first political rapper to start making pop music though.

Fa' Sho, they are the pioneers, I said he was one of the first, not the first. Shit, Paul Simon was the first...Pac got a lot of his influence from Cube and Spice 1
But damn...Pac made it more mainstream, he put it on a cd full of different songs...the homies could be bumping Ambitionz, checking out the chicks while how do u want it's on, then just siti back and reflect on life goes on....did that all just make sense lol, I

yet somehow biggie got away with it? ::) don't be delusional. This was the guy rolling with Suge. If he really believed that Biggie set him up, making a song about it is the least gangsta thing he could have done. And this is the guy screaming fuck the world and claiming to represent Thug Life.
