Title: Amare says Odom was lucky
Post by: OG Hack Wilson on May 18, 2010, 09:01:17 PM
"I'm not giving him no hype right now; he had a lucky game in Game 1," Stoudemire said after Suns practice Tuesday at Staples Center. "We just got to make sure we box him out. I think I focused so much on [Pau] Gasol and [Andrew] Bynum to where he snuck in there and got 19 boards, so now we just got to make sure there's three guys out there that can rebound well [when] adding Odom. So, we got to do a better job on them."

this is the OPPOSITE of what i'd do...i'd say how great Odom was so he doesn't get motivated haha

Amare sounds like an idiot, if I remember correctly he got outperformed by Lamar in the previous Lakers Suns series even when the Lakers were the inferior team.

Amare takes a life L

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs/2010/news/story?id=5200331

ESPN.com news services
Phoenix Suns forward Amare Stoudemire's mother was arrested on Saturday in Scottsdale, Ariz., for failing to have an ignition interlock device on her vehicle, according to a report in the Arizona Republic.

Carrie Mae Stoudemire, 54, was stopped at 3:25 p.m. after her Lincoln Navigator was straddling two lanes and going 60 mph, according to the Scottsdale police report. Her eyes were "watery and glassy," according to the officer.

Carrie Stoudemire told the officer the Navigator was rented and she was unaware she needed to have an ignition interlock device on all of her vehicles. She added that she was on her way to an alcohol class.

An ignition interlock device prevents a vehicle from being started if the driver's blood alcohol content, which is collected by exhaling into the device, registers above a pre-set level.

Police said Carrie Stoudemire's driver's license says she must have the device on her vehicles until Oct. 30.

After Carrie Stoudemire refused to participate in a field sobriety test, the officer handcuffed her and put her in the back seat of his patrol car.

According to the report, Amare Stoudemire and another man arrived at the scene a few minutes later. Carrie Stoudemire began to yell "Amar'e!" and asked for a lawyer.

Police said Carrie Stoudemire was charged with speeding, operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock device and failure to drive in a single lane. She was booked into the Scottsdale jail and later released.

Carrie Stoudemire has been in and out of jail throughout Stoudemire's life for charges ranging from drunken driving to drug possession to prostitution. In 2006, she was sentenced to three years in prison in Arizona for aggravated DUI following an accident.

Amare is a good player. But yeah, when he is challenged....or as they say....when he gets punched in the mouth, he backs down. Against us, our bigs (Duncan and McDyess) are older. So he was able to outquick them. Usually we have been doing to Amare what the Lakers are doing now. He needs to be a on a team where he doesnt have to be the main bigman. Where they have another bigman who can be more of a bruiser and clean up on the boards.

I'd give him credit for not going with cliches if he hadn't sounded so fuckin dumb. Lamar out rebounded all of their big men put together. You don't get "lucky" and end up with 19 rebounds. And to top it off, the next game Lamar outplayed him again by scoring 17 and grabbing 11. Amare better play well the rest of the series or he's gonna risk looking even dumber than he already does.

Amare doesn't have that much to lose. This year Kerr tried shopping him and nobody wanted him.

they stay trying to ship him out. every year he is in the trade deadline rumor mill. that should humble him rather than inflate his ego.

Its not that nobody wanted him. Nobody wanted to give up anything Phoenix would take....for a guy with an over 16 million dollar contract that can opt out after this year.

Obviously, part of trading for Amare would be working out a contract extension with him. Just like the Celtics did with Garnett when he came. Still, I doubt Kerr asked for too much. Kerr is not someone who milks other teams. He traded Marion away for Shaq and Shaq away for nothing. Not very hardcore. He probably didn't look for an All-NBA-Team type of guy in return. More like 2 nice role players or something.

I dunno about that man.  Its been pretty much known that Kerr brought in Shaq to deal with the bigs in the West. To get past Duncan, and the Lakers bigs. That project was a huge failure is all. I think Kerr was dangling Amare out there to see if anyone would just happen to bite with something great. A lot of teams do this with superstars who have expiring contracts.

Gasol has been in LA for three years now, and his only been out early this year. Not really much. Amare was out most of last year. I mean, if we didn't have Gasol and Bynum, hell yeah I would take Amare, but I think the frontline, complete with Odom off the bench, is much better than if we added Amare.

For a young player like Bynum to have missed as much time as he already has, is alarming. Pretending that it isnt...doesnt change that fact. If he played for the Spurs...I would be worried about how durable he will be in the future.

And you skipped over the NIK comment lol

he misssed alot of time, but hes been improving every season, becoming more into a complete traditional center. i wouldnt waste time worrying about his durability, if he gets injured he gets injured, nothing can prevent that.

i agree on the improvement. But typically when you see a young player start to rack up injuries left and right....its a bad sign. And as a franchise you might not spend everyday worrying about it...but you cant ignore it either. You constantly have to think a step ahead and say..."what do we do IF this guy goes down"....and have a back up plan always. Thats difficult to do.

I dunno. He is a face up guy. He obviously isnt a back to the basket type of bigman. But not really very consistent with the jumper. Thats what teams usually try to force him to do. He really needs another bigman to work with him on fundamentals. Take everything else out of the argument...and imagine how amazing this dude could be if he was more fundamentally sound.

The thing is you are not going to win a title with Amare as your starting PF , he's a complete liability on Defense ... fact he does not even try...  winning a title required to have solid interior D  and rebounding... you are not going to win it all with a Stoudemire , Boozer or Bosh as a part of your starting 5 , I dont care if they put nice stats
