Title: Miami Dolphin's Sean Smith showing how much of a moron he is
Post by: OG Hack Wilson on June 01, 2010, 10:10:47 AM
Miami cornerback Sean Smith tossed another log onto the fire in the Jets-Dolphins never-ending war of words by taking credit for something that, well, never happened in his matchups against Braylon Edwards last season according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.
The Dolphins, of course, swept the season series with their AFC East rivals. But it had little to do with Smith’s play against Edwards, who had a pair of productive games against Miami.
``We had a couple of good battles,” Smith told the Miami Herald last week.
The second-year pro later added, “I definitely won those battles.”

Really?
Truth be told, the Dolphins tried different defenders against Edwards. Cornerbacks Will Allen, Vontae Davis and Smith each had their cracks against the lanky Jets wide receiver.
Edwards had 9 catches for 138 yards and two touchdowns in two games against the Dolphins.
Smith apparently forgot about Edwards’ one-handed, 19-yard TD grab against him in Week Eight.
I took a quick look at the game tape and here's what happened: Edwards lined up wide left and beat Smith in man-to-man coverage on the play. Smith never turned his head and found the ball. Edwards cradled it with his left hand and fought off Smith and safety Chris Clemons into the endzone.

9 catches for 138 yards isnt all that impressive over two games. That makes it 5 catches in one game and 4 catches in the other, those are pretty pedestrian numbers.Nothing to sneeze at but nothing that says one sided victory at all. That td catch was amazing though.

that would of been a great game, but yeah, not "great" for two.

the WR always has the advantage over the DB because the DB is just reacting to a set play the WR is running; so you can't expect him to hold Edwards to no catches in both games; he's not Revis. :P

And to further this, randy moss had 9 catches and a td against revis in two games, albeit for about half the yards but people say revis shut him down so Id say sean smith has an arguement.
