Some of you are hypocritical bitches got jokes for days. You complain about good music flopping yet you the same people are the first to DL the shit and you wonder why rappers don't take chances anymore and just stick to the formula
fuck you

it flopped?
what it sell?

Hip Hop in the charts ths week
Rank Artist Album This Week Est. Total
9 Damian Marley & Nas Distant Relatives 25,000 83,000
So in 2 weeks its done 83k, I wouldn't call it a flop though, has there really been any major promotion or single pushed?
I reckon it'll be an album whi'll continue to sell a few units every month
-
i didn't hear shit on the radio, so for an album with little to no promotion, it did pretty good.
& like Dubz said, it's not finished yet.
-
I hope there really are people crying about it. That would be hilarious.

I only just listened to this album today, shit is dope, I guess it's just refreshing hearing Nas over really dope production
-
i thought the content was ill,but i ain't like a lot of the beats but the first joint = rewind button harassment yell
-
I dont consider it a flop.It had zero marketing put behind it.Does it even have a video?I havent seen in any ads or anything behind this release. If def jam got behind this album like they did say deeper then rap or a jay z album and it did these numbers id say it was a flop. But this album didnt have big name producers on every song and eye catching guest features it probably didnt even cost a lot to make the album compared to the average mainstream rap album.

it had lil wayne on it? and they been on all the late night shows performing, but this ain't one of those first week albums it's one of those over time joints it'll probably push 300,000 plus when it's run is up,so they should at least eat off it especially with performances yell
-
A lil wayne feature probably doesnt cost much he works with everyone.Anybody could get a verse from him.
-
lol @ blamin people for rappers sales bein low
it flopped?

Considering Damian produced a huge slab of the beats (if not all?) and there was fuck all marketing etc, the overheads for this album would be low as hell. They're touring like crazy, I'd say they'll actually cake quite a bit of this release

I'm not in America, my purchase doesn't matter

It's hard to call 60K first week a flop nowadays although I did expect it to sell a little more than that. 80K would 1st week would have been my guess. Sales are bad though, and this is no flop. It could have done at least 10-15K more with some more TV/Radio promo. The video came out too late, picked the wrong single, no radio play, etc. They put A LOT of stock into just internet marketing.

hahahaha yeah its the animals' fault

it ain't about how much he cost to feature it's just the fact that he's on the album and the kids today think he's god, they should put that song out as a single next and use studio footage of wayne and all that type of shit yell

Production isn't as fresh as many of you believe.
Nas sounds old and tired. At least he was flowing again.
Content is really hit or miss. Some truth, some misinformation.
-
^^^ This shits on the majority of Nas' usual production though, duke just doesn't have an ear for beats
-
duke just doesn't have an ear for beats
i can see the argument for that; but i think he just chooses beats that fit his style.
old school East Coast beats are just him; not saying he can't spit over other shit, but that works for him.

Are you saying old school east coast beats aren't dope? lol. Him liking a certain style of beats isn't a reason for him choosing shitty versions of those style of beats. He just has a shitty ear 50% of the time, it is what it is. He does try to branch out so its not just the NY state of mind hes stuck in, think "Hero" "Hustlers" and that shitty track with Chris Brown...
Nas just needs to knuckle down and make that classic with Preme we're all waiting on
-

Okay, that doesn't mean much to comment. So, Nas has a shitty ear for beats and his albums reflect that. It doesn't mean this production is as fresh as all of you believe.
Y'all just hyped that Damian provided material you think is better for Nas.
-
The whole album is produced by Damian Marley, so I expected the album to sound the way it did.......overall, I think its a great album, I bump every song (except for the first one) throughout, especially Nah Mean, Damian kills that shit!!!

word, an all-premo produced album would be my dream
