Armando Galarraga is perfect through 8. :o
And I bet the Tribe tonight. :stupid:
-
2 outs to go.
I usually cheer for these things but I don't want to see this one.
-
Fucking Jason Donald!
-
1 more!
-
Infield single! Sweet! ;D
Time to win the game now.
-
Was cheering for the Tribe but Galarraga got robbed BIG TIME here, check the highlights.
-
check them where?
-
LOL WHAT A DICK!
-
check them where?
I guess on the sports channels, but it will probably be on mlb.com soon.
-
wow, what the fuck was that.I cant even put into words that. The ump single handedly robbed him of history what kind of man makes that call?
-
It wasn't even close, wtf
-
The league should step in and give him the perfect game even though that probably isnt possible.he had the perfect game.
-
I SAW THE REPLAY, LAUGH MY FUCKING ASS OFF.
that was god awful!
Jim Joyce looking for attention.
he would of thrown a perfect game in what, 80 pitches? probably the most impressive one this season; that's fucking bulllllllllshit.
-
I didnt laugh I was just disgusted.
-
ummm...why didnt they go to instant replay? wtf?!?!?!
-
someone needs to step in and reverse that call. thats fucking bullshit.

a 23 year veteran umpire makes this call. :puke:

idk if im trippin but it looks as if for a split second he is going to call him out....then he totally fucks Galarraga in the ass.
what a fucking douche.
-
Gotta say, Galarraga showed a tremendous amount of restraint there. When you are the guy at first or the runner you are certain whether it's safe or out and he didn't even say a word. I would have lost it.
-
As an umpire in that situation, let's say you somehow didn't have a good angle on the play...just call it safe if it's really close. In this particular instance, it was an obvious out but if it was like a really close call where the difference is basically a nanosecond then give it to the pitcher there. He was clearly on top of his game, it was a regular groundball to the first baseman.
-
What a joke! This was a situation where if it even looks like a tie you should call it an out. You'll get way worse publicity being the ump that screwed over the perfect game than you would being the ump that gave one away. It would have been a lot worse if we didn't just have 3 perfect games.
-
honestly, you could make the case Miguel was way up the line for no reason.
that looked like the second basemens ball; he's suppose to charge; it would of been an off balance, tough play, but still seems like Miguel was way out of position.
regardless, complete bullshit; he was out, even if he was safe, you're suppose to to blow it & call him out of courtesy.
there is a courtesy base that shortstops & second basemen get when they turn two, but the umpire can't give him a courtesy call for pitching a RIDICULOUS game?
& Wykid, you're not trippin' he was punching him out all the way & changed his mind.
if you see other angles, he did actually bobble the ball, but he DID recover & have full control in time.

that's the thing though, nobody would of said shit, even questioned Jim Joyce if he called him out & he was a whole stride safe.
now he's going to recieve death threats lol.
-
the "28 up, 28 down" perfect game. fuck jim joyce, the people know its a perfect game.
-
anybody see the post game interview with him? what a humble fucking guy.
-
It looked like joyce was about to call him out then saw galarraga celebrate before the call and called him safe just to have a power trip
-

i hope the dick thats in his ass gets stuck and he dies from not being able to shit.
-
that could ruin and take back what many teams have won...the league dont give a fuck and dumb muffuccaz buy season etc....
The league should step in and give him the perfect game even though that probably isnt possible.he had the perfect game.
-
you know what sucks? the league can't even do anything about it.
i'm watching the Reds/Cards game & the announcers are saying the league should go back & change something because it's terrible for the kid.
but if you go back & change it then every team, in every game for the rest of the game's future will bitch & complain to the league to change other mistakes umpires make.
i'm afraid this has to stick forever; god damn bullshit.
fuck you, Jim Joyce.
-
lol @ you takin it out on jim joyce
-
but if you go back & change it then every team, in every game for the rest of the game's future will bitch & complain to the league to change other mistakes umpires make.
thats why then need to change the instant replay rule. make it so that each manager can contest 2 or 3 calls per game...but if the manager is wrong, an out will be counted towards his team...if he is right, the call will be reversed. this way theyll think it over 10 times before challenging it.
-
That is true but at the same time I think the signifgance of a perfect game is different then every teams bitching about games. But it will never happen anyway
-
lol @ you takin it out on jim joyce
is there anyone else at fault here??
-
nah but cham callin out jim is comedy like he has a personal problem wit jimmy over there
lol @ you takin it out on jim joyce

i could kind of go for that.
they should at least test it one season & see how it plays out.
-
but this will continue to happen unless somethin major happens instead and that somethin needs to happen on the fans side
isnt it your fault in a way to buy season tickets and then get this service? and you know this is goin to happen
wait til the nba playoffs begin....lol

The nba playoffs are almost over lol
-
honestly, i'm hearing a lot of people giving Joyce some slack saying how he apologized & shit; but fuck that.
the guy OBVIOUSLY called him safe intentionally; not that it was so obvious that he was out, but it was so obvious that he was GOING to call him out, he was winding up for it & he changed the call.
they are trying to make it like Joyce made an honest mistake & i don't think there is a force on Earth that will convince me that he just did it to be a dick; if i was umping that game, i don't care if it was a tie, if he was a tenth of a second safe, he's out lol.
also, this kid will NEVER come close to this again; 3 K's? 88 pitches? (less if he didn't have the face the 28th batter); the odds of having 24 balls put in play & not one finding a hole are REALLY playing against you.
i'm so upset lol.
-
damn cham is furious over this.....
lakers are that good? lol
The nba playoffs are almost over lol
-
if anything it makes me feel worse for Armando Galarraga. he is such a class guy. fuck jim douche.
-
he is such a class guy.
how this guy stayed calm during that, is beyond me; i'd honestly not even even finish the game; i would of flipped out & got myself ejected lol.
in the post game interview he said, "well, hopefully there will be some more games like this for me" & chuckled; HOW DO YOU MAKE A JOKE? i would be tight for the next month lol.
the thing is, it's not like it was for the game; it wasn't game deciding, like if he fucked it up the outcome of the game would of been altered; it was basically like, call this bang-bang play out if you want to give the kid the perfect game you call him out; he dicked him for no reason other than to get attention.
how about that play by Austin Jackson? :o
-
how about that play by Austin Jackson? :o
i swear that was an "angels in the outfield" moment. some kid in the stands must of been flapping his arms like crazy. ;D

i like to think he had the eye of the tiger.
......
could be the worst joke ever. :D

I have to agree with what's already been said here. Jim Joyce fucked up an incredible day for both baseball (3 perfect games in a month!) and for Armando. Fortunately, Armando seems to be a very humble person who counts his blessings, so it doesn't seem like this will eat him up for the rest of his life, despite the fact that this is one of those once-in-a-career achievements for most players.
Joyce is lucky that as crazy a city as Detroit is, they're baseball franchise is relatively small. If this happened in NY, Boston, Chicago, Philly, LA, etc., Joyce possibly could have left on a stretcher and would be dealing with death threats for the rest of his life lol.
-
It was a bang-bang play that left two victims dead.
The first was the masterful perfect game bid of Detroit Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga(notes).
The second was the reputation of Major League umpire Jim Joyce.
Galarraga will likely move on with his major league career with the stinging Harvey Haddix-type knowledge that only one of the worst blown calls in baseball history prevented him from becoming the 21st pitcher to throw a perfect game — and, even more incredibly — the third perfecto this season and second in four nights.
You can't say the same for Joyce, a 23-year veteran who coupled his name with Don Denkinger when he inexplicably called Cleveland's Jason Donald(notes) safe at first with an infield hit. Replays clearly showed that Galarraga's foot beat Donald to the bag by a full step and Tigers manager Jim Leyland chewed Joyce out — deservedly so — both directly after the play and right after Galarraga retired the next Indians batter for what basically amounted to a 28-out perfect game.
Unreal.
Watch the controversial play here
It's not hard to see why Joyce's Wikipedia page was vandalized within seconds or why FireJimJoyce.com sprung up soon after that.
Galarraga was cooler than you or I might have been, but even Joyce knew he screwed up big time.
"I just cost that kid a perfect game," Joyce said afterward. "I thought he beat the throw. I was convinced he beat the throw, until I saw the replay."
“I don’t blame them a bit or anything that was said. I would’ve said it myself if I had been Galarraga. I would’ve been the first person in my face, and he never said a word to me.”
Joyce is only human and you can bet that this call will spur another heated debate over expanded instant replay in baseball that might actually go somewhere. (It should.)
Joyce will also get plenty of rightful criticism over why he was ruling such a close play safe considering the circumstances. Yes, tie does go to the runner ... except when there is no actual tie and there's a perfect game on the line.
But what's done is done and Joyce's latest black eye for his profession prevented the following from occurring:
• Fewest pitches (88) in a perfect game since Addie Joss' 74 in 1908
• Shortest perfect game (1:44) since Koufax's 1:43 in 1965
• The third perfect game in the 2010s, which would have put them one behind the 1990s for most perfect games thrown in a decade — one year into it.
Don Denkinger? You have company.
-
This guy has no excuse.
-
jay or cham...do you say he was completely wrong in his decision?

i say he should be beaten to death in front of his family for that decision.

did you lose money or your MIND over this game or somethin? lol

naa.. if youre able to reach base you reach base. you dont lay down just cause he is one out away. id love to be the guy who breaks up a perfect game/no hitter....but not like this.
-
did you lose money or your MIND over this game or somethin? lol

Nah, I just like the idea of a perfect game. And if I was the very last batter I'd let it stay perfect, unless it was 1-0 and my team needed the win.
-
so even if it wasnt right...still let it be...some of you should never be refs... ;D

I mean as a player. If I was an umpire and I saw the dude was clearly safe I'd call it safe. But if I wasn't sure, I'd call him out.
-
how is that fair tho...your sayin if your not sure...so your not sure if hes out or not...why go one way and not the other...there has to be a special rule for cases like this
so even if it wasnt right...still let it be...some of you should never be refs... ;D

so youd just lay your bat on your shoulder? im sure the fan base and management would love you for that....
shit, if i was the very last batter id be trying my damndest to get a hit. fuck just handing it to him.....odds are id probably be an out, but id never just quit. and im sure the pitcher wouldnt want it that way, either.
-
i say he should be beaten to death in front of his family for that decision.
Sounds appropriate.

No. I'd make it look real, but I'd swing and miss the third strike.
And Ancient Chinese; if I'm not sure it's fair both ways because I don't know. But my way hard work gets rewarded.
-
I'm not even a big baseball fan... but I watched the last 2 innings of this game, and I'm STILL sick to my stomach 4 hours later. :( I feel so bad for that kid.
-
what a retard, and it wasnt even close, i pretty much agree with shallow, i mean 9th inning, 2 out, both ump and player, should not outlandishly, but help the kid get perfect...
-
i mean 9th inning, 2 out, both ump and player, should not outlandishly, but help the kid get perfect...
That's bullshit, you have to bust your ass to get on base and break that up! You never give up to give someone a record, it won't mean as much. Just like it was bullshit when Favre took that dive for Strahan's sack record.
-

lol word, i'd have the mindset like a guy up in the 9th with the winning run on third.
-
yeah that was some bullshit!
