Title: Phil Jackson is back~Lakers offer Mike Miller 5 yr/$30 mil~Farmar=out,JCritt=in?
Post by: Sccit on July 02, 2010, 02:06:12 AM
The Zen Master is back with the Lakeshow for one last stand and a chance at his 4th threepeat...we also just offered Mike Miller a 5 year/$30 mill contract...not bad. Mike Miller=talented all-around player, deadly shooter, and excellent triangle fit. Luke and Sasha wont hold up at the back-up 2 and 3 spot, so Mike Miller would be great insurance, and will greatly benefit our bench, which was pretty inconsistent last season. In other news, we did not exercise our 1 year/$3 mill team option on Jordan Farmar for next year, which pretty much means he's gone. Sad to see him go, but he seems very excited about the chance to log in heavy minutes as a starting point guard, and he even thanked the Lakers for giving him a chance to shine elsewhere. Pacers are reported to have shown interest in signing him...But that's not too bad for us, because I have a feeling that Javaris Crittenton is coming back and replacing him in the rotation, as he was recently assigned to the Laker Summer League Team..that's great news, seeing as J.Critt was a Laker favorite with lots of upside when we drafted him...Now we just gotta bring Fisher back, and we're money. 8)

Great Laker news. I think Sasha and Luke need to be moved, not Odom, but they might only be able to move Odom. Miller is a starter everywhere he goes, he would strengthen the bench and offer some offense when Artest needs a rest, or a reliable back up to Kobe if we don't get Shannon Brown back. Yeah, if we resign Fisher, with a reliable back up then the Lakers will three-peat. Right now, barring LeBron, Wade and Bosh all going to the same team, the Lakers are looking like the best team again with the Miller signing. A very solid pick up that helps our bench by leaps and bounds.

Farmar is better than Critt for the Lakers and, well, you guys are insane if you think you can move Luke. Mike Miller would be terrific, though.

Didn't say we could move Luke or Sasha, just saying we should try to move them instead of Odom. It might not be possible, but Luke and Sasha eat up cap space, but you might have one GM out there who really wants a veteran with championship experience that might be dumb bold enough to take a chance on these two in trying to change their team culture. Washington, I'm looking at you.

Luke can't be moved , forget about it , he still has 3 years left on his contract , no GM is crazy enough to take it ...

Miller would be nice but the lenght of the contract offer is too long ... dude is already 30 ... if you want to throw the full MLE at a shooter , we should target Morrow , he's young and already in the top 5 shooters in the league ...

Moving LO would be horrible , do that  and you can automatically say goodbye to the threepeat

Well the Lakers will never have cap space so you either have to rely on trades or MLE... and Miller won't take the MLE if it is only for 2 years..

The fact that Luke got a multi year deal still blows me away.

Im hearing the Lakers are looking for a PG. This would drastically help them. Im not a big Farmar guy, but I think that loss could hurt the Lakers. Fisher should not be starting. Or at the very least his minutes should be very limited. They need to find another PG.

What makes losing Farmar hurt even more, aside from the fact that we are going to be needing help at the PG spot, is that he's probably going to tear it up on some other team. It's not hard to imagine him scoring 35 on us when we meet in the regular season, especially with Fisher guarding him lol.

Mike Miller would be an amazing pick-up, a facilitator and playmaker with a high IQ and would thrive in the triangle, not to mention he would drastically help our weakest area... 3 point shooting. But like I said, we still gotta solve the PG issues.

We'll give you Parker and Blaire for Gasol and Sash......Gasol and a McChicken.

Shit, if the Lakers get Mike Miller, the rest of the league is in trouble. 8) Don't really mind Farmar leaving. He's a decent bench player, but never fit in to what Phil was doing. He could thrive on another team but I doubt he'll make a good starter. He needs to improve his defense.

He is definitely a bench guy. But he can bring some energy at times.

Lakers should look into picking up Shaun Livingston, he was playing pretty good in Washington and you wouldn't have to pay him much...

i want t-mac over bell, have if you want but t-mac when healthy is as good as defender and we obviously know his offensive abilities.

t-mac didnt do bad at the knicks he didint do good but he didnt play for 2 years, no training camp, etc etc and he still debut 20 points in his first game.

resign fisher and brown, sign t-mac and some how get a big for dirt cheap (haywood or shaq [lol even though i doubt shaq would be allowed to comeback])

yup...there's been a change of plans. steve blake, 4 years/16 mill...we're addressing the point guard issue instead of offering that big contract to mike miller...even better move, considering we're only using half of our mle instead of all of it, so now we have more money to spend on re-signing fisher.

PG Derek Fisher...Steve Blake/Javaris Crittenton(?)
SG Kobe Bryant...Sasha Vujacic/Shannon Brown(?)
SF Ron Artest...Luke Walton/Devin Ebanks(?)
PF Pau Gasol...Lamar Odom/Josh Powell(?)
C Andrew Bynum...DJ Mbenga(?)/Derrick Caracter(?)

Not bad, so far...still some progression to be made, but we all know Mitch got this 8)

^true, but it's still an improvement over last year...in essence, we're replacing Farmar with Blake and Morrison with J-Critt, plus adding two rookies with potential to be serviceable back-ups in their first year...i know we expect nothing but pure excellence from our lakers, but we already got two starting caliber players on our bench. we've definitely improved our roster thus far, and that's pretty good for a team that just went back-to-back LOL.

Oh man, that sucks, I was looking forward to Miller off the bench. But it looks like the Lakers are truly going after making their bench better. Too bad we are stuck with Luke and Sasha, those contracts hurt, I sense Odom's time has come as well.  :-\ But the moves so far are truly looking like the Lakers are serious at defending their title. With Phil back, I look for Fisher to comeback.

Blake is a very good addition , dude can shoot the three and can pass the ball , will adress one of our pbs ; make good entry passes to our bigs . he's what we needed , a solid PG who can effectively run the system , tired of Farmar and his bonehead plays

Well, Raymond Felton shits on Blake. But out of the PGs who we could actually AFFORD, yeah Blake was probably the best we could have gotten.
