No Felix Hernandez in the all star game? :grumpy:
-
Joe Girardi also knows how to spell his own last name ;)
what is going to happen is C.C. is going his next game on time and be ineligible for the ASG
Joe will have to choose one of these two guys:
king felix: 6-5 record, 3.03 era, 121.2 IP, 1.142 WHIP, 135 ERA+
andy pettitte: 10-2 record, 2.82 era, 105.1 IP, 1.149 WHIP, 143 ERA+
who'd you give the nod to? (Not the rod, the NOD to)

Of course I'm biased but I'd go with Felix. He struggled at the beginning of the year but his ERA is still barely over 3. He's gone 9 innings in his last four appearances and I think that 2 hit shutout he threw against y'all proved that he deserved it. Pettite is having a great year as well though, can't argue with that.

jered weaver > king felix
but let's be honest here...we all know that Jon Molester should be the starter. i hate to admit it too.
-
This year
Felix- 6 W 5 L (due to Seattle's horrible offense)
ERA-3.01
SO-122
Innings-128.2
Weaver-8 W 3 L
ERA- 2.82
SO-124
Innings-108.2
Last year
Felix- 19 W -5 L
ERA- 2.49
SO-217
Innings-238.2
Weaver- 16 W- 8 L
ERA-3.75
SO-124
Innings-108.2
Felix>Weaver, oh yeah, he also hit a grand slam of Johan Santana 8)

what does last year have to do with this year's all star game?
career wise I see king felix being better don't get me wrong
-
^ The ASG is supposed to be the best players, the fact that Felix finished second in the Cy Young voting last year should definitely be taken into account, especially considering the success he's still having. Felix had a rough start, but in his last several appearances he's been as good as anyone in baseball, Girardi should know that especially after he two hit the Yankees.
-
the players didn't vote him in either son
the players DID however vote Phil Hughes in 8)
-
Hey Hack, Felix just owned the Yankees twice in a row, still think he didn't deserve to be an all star?
-
Hey Hack, your boy Phil Hughes just fucked up home field advantage for y'all.
-
lmao
don't be so butt hurt over Felix not making the roster....and btw AJ Burnett will be the 4th starter and he does much better at home :D

I'm not butt hurt, the ASG is the only thing I had to look forward to with the Mariners being so bad this year. You said Phil Hughes deserved it more despite a much higher ERA and he blew the game, that's all I'm getting at
-
Phil Hughes was voted in by the players
he was going to make the team regardless
but yes dude is gonna be better in the long run
-
now did fausto carmona deserve his spot over felix? no

Since when do players vote players in, I thought it was the coaches? Felix>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Hughes

It's not fair to say that Hughes blew the game. Thorton had a lefty match-up with two outs, after walking somebody he should of gotten out. It was his fault to me. Hughes didn't do well either, but to put it all on him is wack.
But I agree Felix should of made the game. Not only because he's better, but there was two other Yankees pitchers in the game; Joe should have taken Felix for a little diversity among the American League.
But he is up there in wins & that's kind of the secret stat people look at, plus he pitches for the Yankees; being successful there is bonus points & if Hack is right about the players, he was making it regardless. I wanted to see Felix in the game though yesterday.

Good post, but IMO wins in the MLB don't mean shit. Aaron Sele won 18 games for the Mariners in 2000 but his ERA was over 4.5. If you're on a good team you're gonna get wins, period. Felix's ERA is basically a whole run less than Hughes and he deserved to make it over him, that's all I'm saying. I'm not putting the whole loss on Hughes, but when my boy gets rejected (after throwing 18 innings of one run ball against the Yankees) I gotta stick up for him.

True, last year people had more wins than Greinke; but I don't know, I feel like it gives you a little extra look at. Although, if you have a lot of wins, you can't be pitching that bad lol; except in Aaron Sele's case. :P
Phil has been huge for us all season so far though & I guess Joe showed him a little respect; so it's like, he was deserving, just not over Felix. :P
