Title: Big Z's Agent: "He's headed to Miami."

MIAMI -- Zydrunas Ilgauskas is following LeBron James to the Miami Heat.

"Once LeBron signed there, LeBron started recruiting him," said Herb Rudoy, Ilgauskas' agent, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, which first reported the move.

The veteran center, who started playing for Cleveland in 1997 and has never suited up for another NBA team, expects to sign a two-year contract with the Heat later this week, Rudoy said Tuesday. The two-year deal would come with a player option for the second season, Rudoy said.

"We've agreed to agree," Rudoy said.

The Heat had no immediate comment. They had talks about acquiring Ilgauskas when he was available this past season after being dealt in a three-team trade to Washington. The Wizards subsequently bought out his contract and made him a free agent.

Ilgauskas is the Cavs' career leader in games played, blocked shots and rebounds. The 7-foot-3 Lithuanian was drafted by the club in 1996 and overcame serious foot injuries that nearly ended his career.

He's just the latest name to join what shapes up as a serious title contender in Miami, joining not only James but Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller, who agreed to a deal late last week that remains unsigned.

"His best chance to win a championship would be in Miami," Rudoy said.

Ilgauskas told Cavs owner Dan Gilbert and general manager Chris Grant the news on Tuesday. James played a role in luring Ilgauskas to Miami, and other teams were interested as well.

Ilgauskas was immensely popular in Cleveland, and expects to keep a home in the city.

"It's hard," Rudoy said. "It's been 14 years. It was very hard for him. I know that. When he called Chris Grant and Dan Gilbert today, it was definitely a hard decision at this stage of his career. But he wants to win a championship. That's how he made this decision."

Playing as a reserve for the first time, Ilgauskas averaged 7.4 points and 5.4 rebounds last season. For his career, Ilgauskas has averaged 13.8 points and 7.7 rebounds, plus has played in two All-Star games.

Wade
Miller
James
Bosh
Big Z

Chalmers & Haslem off the bench as of now.

You can't fuck with that unit.

They got no money left pretty much. The other 5 five players (they have 7 right now) are gonna' be serious bums.

Not necessarily true.

They are allowed to go over the cap to sign minimum salary contracts or veteran's minimum contracts to fill the roster.

So yeah, the players COULD suck, but there is always a chance they can convince some old vet or some kid who wants to win to take the minimum & join the party. I guess we'll see.

He's good for them, he won't be clogging shit up in the lane because more times than not, he's spotting up on the wing to try to hit 20 footers. So I mean, he's what they want. Plus Big Z & LeBron are good friends, so that's some chemistry too.

I called it. Ever since Bron signed, it was obvious from the get-go. Now niggas like Stackhouse and maybe also AI and T-Mac will join the party for the vets min. Then the rookies will get contracts.

Z can hold his own against yao ming and andrew "bad knees" bynum. it's the other athletic center i'ma lil worried about in Dwight Howard and Perkin's/Garnett who mauled UD in the playoffs.

I've been looking at this new Heat team and one thing they do have is Chemistry, Chemistry Chemistry..  Mike Miller/UD were roomates playing for the Florida Gators. Lebron/Bosh/Wade are all close friends, and then you add Z to the mix its a great situation. Now im just hoping MIA lands Raja Bell (lakers are only offering him the vet minumum also) and keeps Carlos Arroyo as an insurance policy at the PG

^But he comes through back on the offesnive end. And Bosh is likely to get matched-up with the better big men.

But like I said, LeBron & Wade grabbed boards every game of their careers, so not only will they be down there getting the ball; but I'm sure they're going to be helping Bosh & Z with anybody trying to take advantage in the post & they are two elite defenders on top of that.

Nah, Cleveland loves Z. I don't think people quite get why Cleveland is so pissed at Lebron. It's not so much about leaving as it is about how it all went down. Z didn't lead the organization and fans on. He didn't screw over the Cavs by waiting to announce if he was staying or not after the big free agents already signed. And Z didn't publicly dump the City on national TV. The day Z's jersey is retired in Cleveland it will be a celebration. Where Lebron is done, he can't ever come home. I still don't think he's ever realizes that.

Cleveland kind of did Big Z dirty. They released him when they got Jamison & made him wait to re-sign. Basically saying, "you're expendable, we'll call you when we need you". Kind of fucked up, but I don't think Big Z leaving is a slap in the face to Cleveland like LeBron leaving.

The fans have to understand Z is ringless, nearing the end of his career & the Cavs are going to be the worst team in the league without LeBron; they gotta let him go to get his ring on.

Cleveland agrees with you on that. The fans were very upset that he was traded. I think because of the reaction the fans had is the reason Z waited it out to rejoin. He really wanted to win it all in Cleveland. That’s why I have nothing but respect for Z. Because he showed my city mad respect. Again that’s why Lebron is so hated right now. He said over and over again how much he loved Cleveland and Akron, then turned around and spit in their face. He showed no respect. That’s why I feel he doesn't even deserve to have Cleveland stitched a crossed his chest.

honestly, you think a front court of z, bosh, and haslem is better than odom, bynum, and gasol?

their back court is good but we beat them at the 2 and 1 straight up. with miller they do have a better 2 guard off the bench but what bout their back up 5 (assuming haslem is gonna stay as a 2nd string pf) or their back up 3, or their back up point guard? and their 3rd string players?

3peat holmes

7even id bet t-mac would rather join the lakers if kobe pursed or if the lakers FO were koo with it.

So if Miami isn't intimidating, then there shouldn't be any complaints about them coming together.

You can act like you have a better front court, you do, easily..if Bynum makes it to the Finals lol.

But, the backcourt isn't even a competition; Miami is going to shit on you. Artest is aging, he can hold some people down, but he can't stick LeBron or Wade. Kobe isn't going to hold either of them to under 20 points (should be about the average of what they're going to score nightly together). Chalmers likely won't even be the point guard because LeBron is better than most point guards bringing it up & Wade will bring his share of the ball up, so Mike Miller will be on the floor then.

You act like Artest & Kobe can just cancel out LeBron & Wade on the offensive end; which is RIDICULOUS considering they couldn't even handle Pierce & Allen for the most part.

if i remember correctly lakers barely beat the heat on a buzzer beater by kobe last year, and lost both times to cleveland in which king james torched Ron artest for almost 40 lol

pretty much at this point, im not sweating bynum with big Z back there.. bynum is slow as shit same as big Z.. they both play to their strengths =height.
its not like bynum is going to be in the game long anyways with Lebron and D Wade hes going to foul out by the 1st half

That's definitely gonna be a key. One thing the Lakers do have going for them is that they 2peated with Bynum (an all star caliber player when healthy) doing absolutely nothing in the playoffs (minus one or two games).

I’m not sure where you're from but Lebron hasn’t been working out at ST V’s anytime recently (He did visit the School while in town for his Nike Camp at Akron U before he made the Decision). If he had it would be all over the local news. I grew up in that area and been in that gym a million times. It’s small as fuck. Lebron wouldn’t be working out there even if he was on the Cavs. It’s so small and crappy St V’s played all their home games at Akron U’s gym. Granted I’ve been living in Cali the last year but I still talk to people daily from back home, and trust me if Lebron was doing that it would be known and people would be there to talk shit.

And Regarding Z, Cleveland fans defiantly were all about getting Z back after the trade. The local media (TV/Radio talked about it every day) and they had a grass roots campaign for management to get him back including a facebook page. You should have seen how pump up every one was waiting for that month to be up so Z could play again, the fans went crazy when they announced him. And he received a long standing O. Of course you wouldn’t hear about that unless you’re from Ohio. Because if it’s not about Lebron it’s not national news. Z stuck with us through all the shitty years and we stuck him through all the injuries. So you shouldn’t comment on something you obviously don’t know anything about.

Lebron Tweeted he was working out at his old highschool in seperate occasions and then tweeted he was going to pilates next hahahah! yup hes back! Looks like the Heat are resigning James Jones too. The Spurs were targetting him and I was hopin they would pick him up. He's a decent roll player, good shooter. This group in Miami will make some of these guys better players I think. Especially guys like Jones who can hit from the outside. He should get a lot open looks.
