I really hope this film does good in the box office so it proves to Hollywood that you can still make original ideas at the big budget scale without the use of gimmicks, or having it to be a sequel, or a comic book adaptation. If not, fuck it Christopher Nolan will still have the third installment of the Batman trilogy to fall back on and I'm sure he can survive with a low budget film.

The crazy thing about the effects is that it has about the same amount of CGI work at Batman Begins, so not much.
Wired.com: With all this amazing imagery in Inception, did you spend a lot of time waiting for things to render?
Franklin: Actually, the visual effects shot count on Inception was about par with what we had on Batman Begins. We came in at about 500 shots, whereas Batman was about 620. That’s actually fairly minor when compared to some of today’s visual effects epics, which can have something like 1,500 or 2,000 VFX shots. Our goal was to build on the existing reality that’d already been filmed.

That just goes to show you that most of the wow factor in this film comes from actual sets and explosions.

effects were cool but i thought it was kinda boring, the shit with his kids got repetitive

It served a purpose to the story though, so it had to be repetitive. He kept on fighting his memory throughout the movie.

Superb film. The idea alone was mindblowing and its a testament to Nolan as a director that he was able to translate the idea to the big screen. Some of the setpieces were incredible.

This movie is very clever, brilliantly written and directed, BUT... as with many other Nolan films, I didn't emphasize with the characters. I didn't feel the emotional journey Cobb (Leo's charachter) go through, and the emotional part of the film seemed to be cramped into the script. The characters are just there to move the story along, which makes this NEARLY a masterpiece.
Inception is like witnessing a game of chess between two brilliant chessplayers, but I hoped it would be more than that.
Nolan is one of the greatest directors alive today, but he has a long way to go when it comes to creating characters you can connect with emotionally.
All that being said: this is a must see. Complex and clever story, mindblowing effects and action sequences. Recommended.

Great movie, effects are crazy, story is great... Not as good as Dark Knight (10/10) but close (9/10).

Just saw it last night. I understood it all the way through, no problem after hearing it'll twist your mind lol. Honestly, one of my favorite movies in QUITE some time.
The entire story just blew me away. The little "totem" thing, the dream inside a dream inside a dream. It was INSANE.
You HAVE to see this movie.
