Title: First Snoop album I bought since Doggystyle & I luv it
Post by: eNgIeS on December 14, 2002, 01:05:23 AM
I dont know how the fuck people can say the new Snoop is wack.

This is Snoops best album, esspecial on the vocal side, since Doggystyle. I always said I wont buy a Snoop album unless I see him put some effort back into his raps, & he finally has on most of the tracks (maybe its because he is off the weed now) & I bought it yesterday (along with bothe NWA remastered & Doggystyle Remastered)

Have people here finally grown into the album or do you still dislike it

I agree snoop is on point on the majority of the album- vocally and delivery wise. He has come off the best on this album since doggystyle, but I think one-third of the production on the album is what brought the album down. I love the last meal, but listen to it closely, snoop still wan't on point flow wise on some tracks eg. true lies, where he started off well at the beginning of each verse, but end poorly (I love the hook, and the beat though). He came off weak vocally on half the album as well, eg snoop dogg, wrong idea, set it off, bring it on, and even on y'all gone miss me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that PTCTBTB is classic, but it's a very good album because snoop came back vocally (he came of poor on some tracks still eg. lb 2 brick city), flow-wise and lyrically (although he's no ras kas). I also have to say that I'm feeling ballin' a lot more for some reason especially in cd quality.
Obviously I can understand that everyone was shocked by the lack of classic westcoast production, but mostly the beats were still good. When everyone heard viscous flow when it came out on the bootleg, most people thought it was dope, and most people thought that soopafly, or daz prod. it, but now everyone has realised that just blaze prod. it it's getting hated on.

Anyway, if you like the album or hate it, it's still cool, I ain't gonna try to change your opinions, cos you're entitled to think what you like, even if people think that doggfather is better than doggystyle (which someone once posted), that's cool.

wassup yall i m back....

i bought the new snoop lp as a birthday gift for ones of my lil homies and i was pretty surprised.
snoop stepped up lyrically NO Doubt.
i really feel "the one and only" for example.
it s more like a party cd overall though but in my opinion its better that last meal da game and even top dogg.

Agreed.  I think (my opinion) that his lyrics on doggystyle weren't even that hot.  He's to me, a better lyricist now.  The flow and lyrics and delivery, voice all that on this album is awesome.  Some of the beats might dissapoint, though... I tried and tried, but I just can't feel some of that Jelly Roll stuff.  He can't please us all, I guess, but all in all, It's a pretty good album. I like the neptunes stuff, it's just mainly the Jelly Roll beats I don't like.  "Ballin" is a great track, btw.  Think about it, you got

Ballin'
Paid In Full
The One and Only
Batman And Robin
From tha Chutch to tha Palace
Pimp'd slapped
Beautiful
Believe In You
Lollipop

Are ALL pretty tight.  A few of the others are decent, but all of those are basically (to me) about as good as Snoop Gets.  Peace~

I like jelly roll, he's a tight producer. On the blvd, party with a dpg, his stuff on the eastsidaz, flashlight, and even parts of hourglass are all tight, but he excelled himself on tha last meal (although i can't swim was average), and even his stuff on doggy's angels was dope. I didn't realy like his production on you got what i want and on xzibit's album (except the heart of man- whaterver it was called, I just didn't like the hook).

I also agree he is a better rapper than in the past, in terms of a more diverse subject matter, although if he makes stuff like doggystyle it's still all good.

Yeah thats cool, not saying people should really but the proof is in the pudding, you can listen to it & see were Snoop was fucking up back from 1996-2001, maybe it was a weed coz he sounded so laid back & lazy in those rhymes, where as on these ones & Doggystyle he was comin so hard that u were like damn he gangsta.

BTW, how the fuck can I have -5 karma. I dont post much & i dont step on many peoples toes (maybe it was a Row hater for me exposing the truth on Suge Knight)

I love "Paid The Cost To Be The Boss". It is a top quality album. I think it could blow up big time if the next single/s work out well but no matter how well it sells, this is a great album in my opinion.

Snoop is at his best again and I'm looking forward to the future Doggystyle Records releases.

peace

Damn, good lookin', I didn't think of it as a diss to kurupt, but now you mention it it does make sense when the man talks about needing money to pay his taxes, then he's shot down, LOL, mabe that's what suge will do to him once he's used kurupt.
