I was surprised by it. It looked better than I expected it to look and better than any Thor story I could think up. I was never much of a Thor fan (in comic book super hero form anyway).

Yeah. A lot of people thought Alexander Skarsgard (Eric from "True Blood") would have been perfect for Thor. Ironically, his father, Stellan Skarsgard (Father Merrin in "The Exorcist" prequels) has been cast in "Thor" as Professor Andrews.
Initially, I wasn't sure how I felt about Chris Hemsworth being cast as Thor. I think the only movie I'd seen him in was the new "Star Trek" as Captain Kirk's father. But seeing him in this footage, I have to say he definitely looks like Thor. I'm a little less skeptical than I was before. Although, Alexander Skarsgard probably would have done a good job too.

And the dude from True Blood doesn't just look the part, he's a good actor. He was great as "Ice Man" in Generation Kill lol

Before seeing the trailer I'd have said true Blood should have been picked. After seeing it I'd say they made the right choice. True Blood has a bit of that smug dickness to him that you don't want for Thor.

yea i dont know about comic book movies, i think they will try to make this too "epic" being like 2 hours and 45 minutes and dragging on, however, natalie portman is in it.

I think this'll be about as long as Iron Man. Marvel seems to have a formula going. I think if any of the films are going to be epics, other than the Avengers movie, it'll be the Captain America film.
And what's wrong with Comic Book movies?

It's horrible at best. I was making a joke. DC was making better films than Marvel starting in the late 70s when they made Superman. And as much as I hate the Burton stuff it's still better than the early 90s Marvel films like Punisher and Captain A.
But I will say this; as far as making a comic book on the screen, rather than making a film with comic book characters; Punisher Warzone>>>>>>>>>Dark Knight and Begins combined.

I wasent a big fan of xmen, spider man and daredevil but i fel marvel def stepped up there game with Iron man and Hulk.

It's not that I'm crazy about Thor. It's that I'm not completely turned off by it, as I thought I would be.

Nah, it's more based on the MAX series/Ennis stuff. The plot actually feels a bit like the Batman 89 story. What I love about it is it is just unabashed Punisher. No commentary on the world or shit like that. Just Frank Castle killing motherfuckers. And it feels like you're watching the comic book.

Yeah. I thought it was interesting that they introduced the movie under the "Marvel Knights" banner, seemingly to distinguish it right from the beginning from the Thomas Jane Punisher movie that they put out before.
There were things I really liked about that last Punisher movie and things I didn't like. What I did like was the Punisher himself. To me Ray Stevenson was the perfect Punisher. I thought many of the kills were pretty awesome as well. The overall movie seemed very uneven though, and I thought the villains were too over the top.
The word at San Diego Comic Con this year was that the rights to the Punisher movies have gone back to Marvel and that Marvel Studios is planning on releasing the next Punisher movie. I think that is probably a good sign.

You might be right. I used to read "Punisher," "Punisher: War Journal," and "Punisher: Warzone" in the 90's and I remember liking them, for the most part. But it's been just about that long since I've read "Punisher" or even re-read any of those old issues. So as far as it being a really close adaptation of the comic, maybe it was. I'm probably not the best person to judge that. During the movie I kept thinking though that I liked the actor who played the Jigsaw character more before he became Jigsaw. And Jigsaw was even a character that I remembered liking in the comics. It just seemed like everything with the villains, from that point in the movie, was a little over the top. I have to say though, for whatever personal gripes I had with the movie, I still enjoyed it. The Punisher I thought was way closer to the comic book version. The kills were much bloodier and way cooler. And I thought Wayne Knight was a pretty inspired choice for Microchip, a character that the Thomas Jane movie left out completely.

But whatever.

If Marvel Studios really is going to do the next Punisher movie, it will be interesting to see if they choose to put him in-continuity with the rest of the Marvel Universe stuff that they've been building over there (Iron Man, Hulk, the Avengers, etc.) or if they'll leave "The Punisher" as a stand alone story similar to the Max universe. I think the character lends himself to either, but personally I think would want a stand alone story, hopefully still rated R and with kills like in "Warzone."

As long as it's done right I don't mind. A Warzone sequel would be guaranteed awesome for me, but I wouldn't ind seeing Castle interact with Stark and Rogers either.

Lol. I think Triple H was being considered for the part of Conan for a while, but they ended up casting Jason Momoa.
