I do! Album is a modern classic to me
Blaqkout, Cream N Ya Panties, Do U Know, Oh, Fuck Yall, Hey Playa, 9X Outta 10, The Appeal are still memorable bangers to me
-
i do it now. 8)
-
I do.
I'd take out:
Jupiter's Critic & the Mind of Mars
Whatcha Wan Do (Alternative Version)
That bullshit skit
And shorten Exodus to 1:45.
and I'd have a perfect album.
-
I still love it. Summers day chilling with a beer 8)
-
I haven't stopped bumping it since it came out 8)
-
Album still wack but hey playa is classic not the album...huge letdown 4 a quik project..kurupt ehh that was expected right?
-
Very good album overall. Production is a 9.5/10, very good westcoast beats (and that Jupiter track wasn't bad either.) I loved how it sounded very modern, not the 1990's G-Funk sound which I know was a very classic era, but it's good to see modern Quik production that sounds great. However, I was disappointed by Kurupt. He was inconsistent, the lyrical content was overall inconsistent.
-
I still do, especially those tracks you mentioned - tracks like ''The Appeal'' and ''Blakqout'' cmon 8)

What I'm thinking too. Except I stopped carring about Kurupt's lyrics. Always killing the beat and lyrics are Ok, nothing more.

still bumpin...
-
"The Appeal" and "Fuck Yall" stay in rotation.. 8)
-
Nope.. Never. Trash.
-
Just bumped it on my system (hard copy of course) in honour of this thread 8)
This album is work-of-art music that goes way beyond being called a classic or whatever. It's just musical greatness. The vibe I get listening to it is like when I blast out my Game Don't Wait Remix Promo CD 8) 8) 8)
Loads of haters will slam this album but I said it back then, half of you clowns aren't ready for this sh1t 8) 8) 8) 8)

I don't. I've moved on from that album; it lasted about a week for me, just like I'm sure it did for most people in this thread. But you gotta show Kurupt love, right? :D
"Hey Playa" was fucking amazing though, I still play that from time to time, the rest was just good shit that got old fast.
-
Hey Playa, Do You Know and Oh I'm still bumping, not the rest of the album.
-
Real talk cham otherwhise kurupt gon diss em..lol...how is this all over the place album classic?
-
5 or 6 tracks still get plenty of rotation.
-

because of how music is today people have no standards.. Shit is so sad.. people will bump anything these days just to... man I dont even know why..
-
9x out of 10 gets some spins here n there:)
peace
-
when it first came out I listened to it for a few weeks constantly. but then after I never got the same wow factor. But there are some tracks that get a few spins from me now and then. 8) "Fuck Ya'll", "Cream N Ya Panties", "9x outta 10", "The Appeal".

You can't bang the same album constantly ... indefinitely ;D
Why would you when there's so much more music out there to experience. I find there'll be a honeymoon period with the best albums then I might put it away for a few weeks or months then it comes out fresh. If it still knocks now then good, if not move on. This album right here has got that replay value because it's got that musical complexity that hits you every time...not to mention the playful lyrics and summertime vibe, just no need to over expose it. If I listen to any album or song too often it gets stale when I know it back-to-front. I'll put it away for some time and bring it out fresh again later. 8)
-
Fuck Ya'll still gets spins from me, but that's the only track I still play. Thanks for the reminder to play this album again :)
-
Real talk gamestarr...this album should have been mind blowin str8 up... One song was imo
-
Honestly when i bought it I bumped it a couple times, & put it away. I mean its a decent album with a couple stand out tracks but it didn't have much replay value for me.
My favorite tracks were Ohhh, Fuck Yall, Hey Playa, 9x Outta 10 & The Appeal. Those songs got put on mixes or were on my mp3 player i use for work and were in rotation for a while.
anyone bump RoQKout still?
-
I thought it was a good collabo, I still listen to Hey Playa, Whatcha Wan Do, Fuck Y'all, 9x outta 10 is crazy on some good speakers. I will play this shit till Book of David hits the shelves.
-
Still bang hey playa, blaqkout, fuck yall, ohh, 9xs outta 10 the appeal the rest im not to bothered about. Lookin forward to book of david.
-
when is "the book of david" being released??
-
i sill play it at times. my two favs is cream n ya panties and hey playa.
-
1. Blaqkout GOOD
2. Cream N Ya Panties GOOD
3. Do You Know GOOD (This is modern Quik I can get on)
4. Whatcha Wan Do WACK
5. Ohh! WACK
6. F**k Y'All GOOD
7. Hey Playa! (Moroccan Blues) GOOD (Again - Modern Quik at it's best)
8. Exodus WACK
9. 9x's Outta 10 WACK (could have been good, Kurupt ruins it, Like the beat - sometimes)
10. Jupiter's Critic & The Mind of Mars WACK (WTF is this B*llshyt)
11. Appeal, The GOOD (Could have done with extended version with huge signature Quik instrumtation outro)
12. Problem: The B Stands for Beautiful (Skit) WACK
13. Whatcha Wan Do - (alternate take) WACK
Statistically 46% of the album is HOT, which means it scores a measly 4 outta 10 in my book. 54% - over half is straight garbage filler tracks that should have just been added as B-Sides if anything. Trauma shyts all over this. Most people are picking the same tracks that everyone else agrees are good. I hear there may be a part 2. Lets hope not. I'd rather have a Quik/Suga Free collab, or a Quik/Teddy/Snoop album
-

You'd rather have a follow up to this musical gem?

Not that, I mean just those 3 together exlusive as a group album. Years ago I would have opted for a Snoop/Quik/Warren G/Nate collab album. The song don't tell from No Limit Top Dogg was the stand out track from that album for me
-
Obviously if they make a part 2...sales arent holdin em back
