Title: Let's say Nas released I Am in its original double disc form...
Post by: eazye on August 24, 2010, 09:47:22 AM
...In that case, Nastradamus (horrible album from Nas as a whole IMO) probably wouldn't exist, as well as the tracks that were added for the retail version of I Am.But the subject/lyrics/rapping on some of the tracks that remain from the later I Am/Nastradamus sessions isn't that bad, so I made a compilation with some of the better ones, some blends and remixes.

So, put in a few words, in a world where the double disc version of I Am was released and where Nas had a better beat selection, this could have been a decent EP

01. Nastradamus (Album Version)
This is the version that was released.I put it here because it has a dope beat and lyrics are good.Hook on the other hand is pretty bad

02. Nastradamus [Madlib No Hook Blend]
Now this is more like it.A great, mellow Madlib beat which suits the lyrics quite better and the hook is cut off

03. Project Windows (Album Version)
I left this one too since it's a good song and the version on the original I Am album has a slightly different beat

04. I Want To Talk To You (Godfather Don Blend)
Good lyrics paired with a dark GD beat, much better than the released version

05. Hustlers And Killers
A B-Side from the Hate Me Now CD single.Nothing special but a nice track.Produced by Trackmasters & Rich Nice

06. Shoot'em Up (Album version)

07. Big Things (Godfather Don Blend)
The original beat was horrible. This makes for an at least listenable track, and if you're a fan of dark, sinister production, a quite enjoyable one

08. Money Is My Bitch (45 King Blend)

09. New World (M.F. Doom Blend)
Track is nothing special, still better than the original version

10. K-I-S-S-I-N-G- (45 King Blend)

11. Life We Chose (D.J. Eli Remix)
This joint, like Project Windows, appears in its original form on the I Am double disk but with the same average beat that it uses on Nastradamus. This version is simpy ILL!

Everybody knows if it was released as originally intended and never leaked it would have been a dope album.  But, it really doesn't matter cause duke released two ok albums instead of releasing a dope double disc.  It might not be his fault and pressure from the labels but the way it went is the way it went.  At least we have the tracks to do what we want with.
