Definitely pullin for Toney. Obviously if Toney catches him with a clean shot he will drop Randy. But its gonna be hard for James to win this shit by MMA rules. They should have two fights...one with MMA rules...one with boxing rules. 8)

Randy would get murdered in a boxing bout lol, Toney has a shot here, stay low and wait for him to shoot. What will most likely happen though is Toney will get picked up and slammed and elbowed then possibly submitted, but anything can happen.

The more I think about this shit, the less I give Toney any chance in this fight. To be honest, he is probably one of the worst type of boxers to try and crossover.
For almost any boxer, their major opportunity to win the fight will be by KO. Using their hand speed and punching power. The best type of boxer would be somebody who has very quick hands and can catch you with a big shot at anytime. Think abot the type of fighter Toney is. Especially in the later years of his career. He's been a very defensive fighter who likes to counter punch. He typically uses the ropes alot, leaning back on them to save energy and make it difficult for opponents get a clean shot on him. That wont work in MMA. He cant fight with his back to the cage against Couture. He'll be on the ground. For a boxer it would be key to keep the fight in the middle of the octogon. That hasnt been his style.
I still hope he KO's Randy tho.

The positive for him is he's not fighting a guy with speed like St. Pierre or Silva, but Randy is a far greater athlete then him, if he sticks around MMA if he loses then Toney Vs. Big Country would be a great fight ;D

I believe he's signed to a one fight deal, so if he loses this fight in an embarrassing fashion its safe to say he is done with UFC lol.

From what i've heard it's a 3 fight deal. I know for sure it's a multi-fight contract.

Only way for Randy to win is to TRY to take Toney down and ground and pound for a stoppage/knockout, submission or by decision
if they go toe to toe Toney has the best defense comparable to Floyd's cus he knows how to stand and throw punches

I'm hoping the point was to get UFC more PPV revenue at the expense of a washed up boxer and not just some shitty attempt to prove that MMA is better than boxing in the eyes of Dana White. Most likely a little bit of both. I guess when the numbers come in we'll find out.

I rarely defend Dana White, I think dude is a punk too. But it was James Toney who wanted this. He called Dana White a bitch and said White was too scared to see a boxer come in and kick UFC fighters' asses. It took James Toney attending a UFC event and talking to Dana White face-to-face for Dana to finally agree to sign him.
Toney only wanted to fight the big names, he wanted fucking Brock Lesnar at first. Obviously they're not going to let a rookie MMA fighter fight a champion, but since he also wanted to fight Randy Couture who is not currently a champ, he got what he asked for. Can't blame anyone but Toney himself.
By the way, Dana White already cut Toney from the roster, so that in itself shows that he doesn't really care about milking Toney for what he's worth. This whole thing was to prove a point, that they're two completely different sports, and now that the point has been re-affirmed, they're all moving on. Remember when Anderson Silva wanted to box Roy Jones Jr. a couple years ago? The UFC said they would never let Silva do it as long as he's signed, and Dana himself said publicly that Silva wouldn't be able to hang against high-profile boxers, and that's despite Roy Jones being WAY passed his prime.
