if u compare Daz Dillinger wit Dat Nigga Daz from the early 90's - there's a huge difference.
out of all the DPG's, i think Daz stepped up and postiively evolved as a rapper and performer. Daz is the only one that shines on all the DPG-songs nowadays. Kurupt sounds lazy and slurs out his words like an alcohoic, like he's falling asleep in the mic-booth. Same wit Snoop..
Daz matches all the instrumentals perfectly - and Kurupt tends to rap offbeat and fucked-up.
tho Daz still writes the typical "daz-rhymes", but he was never on that lyricist-shit anyway..
It's kinda funny. Back in the 90's, Daz was the weakest link in Dogg Pound - now he is the strongest.. nigga can even sing..
you could compare Daz & Kurupt - wit Al Pacino and Robert De Niro in a way. Al Pacino continued to evolve with his craft - while Robert De Niro became a lacklustre shadow of what he once was...
dont get me wrong, im still checking for Kurupt-verses and new Kurupt-songs frequently, im still a big fan - but im entitled to my opinion.. no hate..

I don't think so.... Daz had way better rhymes back then (Bitchez ain't shit) than he does today. Also Daz releases Quantity, not Quality. He releases waaaaay too much shit, same with Kurupt. The rhymes become stale and I haven't listened to an album of theirs for awhile.
I think they have run out of shit to rap about imo.... all of them. And no, Daz hasn't evolved at all, neither has Kurupt or Snoop. Kurupt had some nice songs on his last album (Yessir) but not many.
-
nobody in DPG evolved for the better
Daz's best raps in his career were on "initiated" and "this life i lead" with 2pac back in 1996

Yep I agree, if your still rappin about Bitchez Ain't Shit 18 years later you haven't evolved at all. Kurupt was good because he was lyrical, and he could talk about the same shit in a lot of different ways creatively.
I would disagree with you on Daz's best raps but everyone has different taste ......
-
so they're all rappin about bullshit... thing is tho, it shouldn't be considered that imprtant to evaulate a rappers talent, depending on the lyrics.. i guess, it is.. but if u put dat a side - Daz is a better rapper/performer than what Kurupt is today.. he has "presence" on his songs.
he is talented, he's just rappin about bullshit. no recordlabel ever offered Kurupt, a great contract before.
Suge swooped him up after his dpg-departure, but that was only to piss Snoop & dpg off. that was his motive..
Jermaien Dupri and his million-dollar empire So So Def, on the other hand, gave Daz a chance- cus they believed in him as a performer..
i think Daz is very underrated.
imagine him rappin lyrics, written by an intelligent person.. lol
-
that's the thing...daz isn't an intelligent person nor is he even close to one. he'll never expand his style. Daz's best role when it comes to vocals is being a hype man. he's great behind the boards (or was) but i haven't heard him drop a dope verse in years
and he had the only bad verse on the entire All Eyez On Me album where he nearly ruined Got My Mind MAde Up :D

Yea he has presence, I'll give him that. He actually makes me laugh sometimes out loud with the shit he comes up with. Stuff like Youz Just a Bitch and songs like that are hilarious.
He was underrated I agree but not anymore. His time has passed and sometimes these guys start to kill their legacy when they keep releasing mediocre if not terrible shit. If you go back one day and see he has released 10 albums and only 3 of them were really good, then you fuck it up right? I'm comparing to if you release 5 albums and 3 are really good, 2 are so so. Which is better for your career and legacy?
Dogg Chit, Cali Iz Active album, etc.... horrible. I stopped getting my hopes up after that.
-

Yup, you hit the nail on the head. That is exactly it, he is an awesome hype and has a clever punch line here and there. That is his "presence."

Wow, there`s extremely way too much hate 4 Daz and tha entire Dogg Pound Family on here.

No, no hate at all, just criticism. Don't get it twisted. I got tonnes of DPG shit and listened to their songs thousands of times. There is good and there is bad, just like most artisits out there.
I'll use Biggie as an example. Everyone was saying (maybe even still) he was the best of the New York MCees. He has two classic albums, but those were also the only two albums he had. The shit that got released after his death, like Pac's, got so so reviews.
Would he still be as dope if he had 7 albums? Who knows right? As for DPG their early shit was amazing... RAW, Streetz is a Mutha, Space Boogie, Dillenger and Young Gotti, etc. ALso Daz is/was a dope producer. I just think putting out mass quantities of songs has affected them...

Naw i hear what you were saying COMPLETELY and I agree for the most part.
I was gettin' at tha haters 4 swarming in 4 landing. Then a nigga tell me "it's not 1995", so, so what tha fuc doez that mean. Tha Dogg Pound always been puttin out heat (since day 1), it's just like the nigga said it's been a little bit too much. Imagine if Daz would've saved that "On Some Real Shit" record for now, tha buzz would grow a little bit, probably not all that noticable but with "100 Wayz" dropping and Ross bein' a star it would've been perfect timing, but 2006 wasn't all that bad of a move anyway. Anyway, there's just not too much wrong as to what Tha Dogg Pound (Daz) has done. Even if Daz is illiterate and Kurupt is dislexic lmao jp

just sayin i wouldnt say daz is the weekest link daz was producing hella nice shit and flows also
thats like 2 n 1 u gotta add more to that list also dpg consisted of more than rupt, snoop, nate
-
Daz's biggest weakness is recycling his old lyrics. Especially around the "DPGC: U Know What I'm Throwin Up" era. My God dude used evey one of his old Death Row lyrics possible.

Most dope artists early shit is considered their best work...
Jay-Z - Reasonable Doubt
Nas - Illmatic
Bigge - Ready 2 Die
Snoop - Doggystyle
Dre - Chronic and so on and so on
and its no different with Daz with Retaliation, Revenge, and Getback

which is why I say the rap game is a young man's sport. Actually, the older you get, the wiser you get at making money, but the wacker you get with your actual music-making skills.
As for nobody in the DPG getting better and evolving, I know she isn't really in the DPG, but Lady of Rage has yet to fall off, imo. Because 2Pac didn't mess with her and teach her how to rush through her lyric writing and vocal sessions.

ACTUALLY Mr. DetoxIzAMyth and milli-Ant, alotta of the more prominent and SUCCESSFUL rappers are in their 30's and getting better. Others are pushing 30 and others are pushing 40 or are already in their 40's. There's only so many BIG Rappers in their 20's. Bow Wow, Wayne, Drake (if you wanna consider him Successful). Most of the "weaker" MC's NOW/TODAY are in their 20's and of course Younger.

Anywayz Loud Cock Smoker... There are a very few rappers that are still alive that are still getting better in their 30's actually the only one I can think of is Nas and maybe Eminem but that is the exception and not the rule. I agree with Detox that they get better with the business but their start losing their artistry, passion, and creativity. I do agree with you cocksmoker though that most of the weaker MC's especially westcoast MC's in 20's are an inferior product to the OG's but that's because they lack the originality the OG's brought to the table. Jay Rock and even Nipsey rapping bout he same shit Cube and Snoop been rapping about FOREVER.

Just like some white boys. y'all just gotta always use the words Cock and Douche with everything lol.
-
off course they aint as good as back in the day. but they still drop some shit. they just release everything they do now. thats all.
-
One thing I forgot about was Blaqout with Kurupt and Quik, I thought that was dope as fuck. That was fresh, and that was what I liked about it. A lot of the time, like I was sayin and others, is that they recycle the same shit over and over again.
Blaqout was unique.
-
I THOUGHT HE WAS DEAD WHEN I SAW THE TITLE OF THIS THREAD !!! lmao ... :o

Alotta people forget about how current but ahead of it's time that album was. Production wise it was some of the most different Rap music that's been comin' out since everything went all digital n shit. Kurupt actually sounded fresh on that album and Quik did his thing inside out and outside in.

Yup, that is why it was so good. You got to keep an open mind when shit like that comes out. Look at Dre he's always trying to bring fresh shit to the scene, aka ahead of his time. When 2001 came out a lot of people didn't like it, including myself, but it grew on me to be one of my favourite albums. Still D.R.E. is probably one of my favourite songs.
I think if the DPG sat back and took their time, maybe got some help from Quik and different producers, they could make something fresh.

I THOUGHT HE WAS DEAD WHEN I SAW THE TITLE OF THIS THREAD !!! lmao ... :o
I know. I got all excited for nothing.

those songs ur talking about were really produced in 96(raw album) unless ur talking about d&yg and that shit has mike deans hands all over it.
daz production was the tightest 94-96 when he had deathrows studio musicians and can am equipment at his disposal
