Title: Anyone know why Pac and Treach didn't do more tracks together?
Post by: TraceOneInfinite on September 17, 2010, 01:12:26 PM
They have an unreleased track "Loyal to The Game" that I think was done origionally for the Above the Rim soundtrack, but finally came out on the Eminem produced 2pac album from 05.  Seems like Treach was one of his closest homies, surprised him and Pac didn't do more together.

What?  Another track that was only on the cassette?   I'm confused... so, one of 2pac's best songs "So Much Pain" wasn't on the cd I bought but was supposedly on the cassette tape as well?

Is there any reason Death Row put these tracks on the cassette but not on the cd?  It doesn't make sense.

...and btw, lol, I remember I bought my copy at Wall-Mart back in 94 so mine didn't even have the Dogg Pound track on it at all, I remember hearing it for the first time on the documentary The Show, the version they did live on Russel Simmons The Show was better anyway.

2pac got paid for all 3 songs (pour out a lil liqour, pain, loyal)

but for whatever fucked up reason Pain and Loyal to the game only got release don the Above the rim cassette and on certain single's as b-side songs.

thank god for "15 years on death row" for releasing PERFECT quality versions of both songs in og format

well, sorta OG format.  Big Syke says he was on the original loyal to the game but Pac took him off and put Treach and Riddler on it instead.  I believe Syke.

Word.. but yo... I think your mixing up the Murder Was The Case Soundtrack with the Above The Rim soundtrack where you said "2pac got paid for all 3" because it was actually the Murder Was The Case soundtrack in which Pac said he got paid for 2 tracks they didn't even use.... unless it was actually Pac that had the two soundtracks mixed up... which would actually make more sense.

I'll take Treach over Syke, and most other rappers, any day of the week. Anybody got any info on Riddler?

I'll take Syke over Treach myself.....BUT for that particular song since we don't have many Treach/Pac collabs and Syke/Pac worked a lot I'm glad they made th at choice to put Treach on it

As for the Riddler to be honest all I know about the guy is that he produced that song (Loyal to the game) and he is part of Treach's crew.

Yes.  For some reason, Death Row seemed to like putting extra songs on the cassette versions of some of their albums.  I believe "Murder Was the Case" was the same way.  Anyway, the cassette version of "Above the Rime" had three extra tracks, "Pain by 2ac feat. Big Stretch, "Loyal to the Game" by 2pac featuring Treach and the Riddler,
and "My Moni Rite" by Lord G.  And yes, you are also correct that the edited version of "Above the Rim" also didn't have the track "Dogg Pound 4 Life."  So if you had the edited cd, it would actually have 4 less songs on it than the explicit tape.

Okay.  I would say that's "splitting hairs" but you're technically right.  Bone Thugs as a complete group has never recorded with Pac, Biggie, and Big Pun.  But for that matter, if you wanted to get super technical Bone Thugs the group didn't record with Biggie either, because Wish isn't on "Notorious Thugs."  And though you're also technically right that Bone as a group didn't record "Thug Luv" with Pac, they all ended up on the final version of the song.

They done this to encourage cassette sales, since they were apparently cheaper to create back in the day when CD's were just taking off

Riddler's verse on OG Loyal To The Game is probably the only time that Pac was outdone on the mic.  That verse is stellar.

16 not 15. lol
