Don't know if this has been posted already, but if so, a little reminder won't hurt.

Jay Z told Rolling Stone magazine his top 5 songs of all time and here’s what the wanna be white guy’s list includes:

5. “Respect” by Aretha Franklin
4 “What’s going on” by Marvin Gaye
3. “Imagine” by John Lennon
2. “I can’t get no satisfaction” by The Rolling Stones
1. “Like a Rolling Stone” by Bob Dylan

Here’s what I gotta say to Jay Z FUCK YOU!!! You are from the projects you never grew up hearing Bob Dylan songs you fucking sell-out you a older dude so you grew up in the Funk era fucking liar…Since when nicca’s from the hood listen to Folk music?

This guy Jay Z is such a house nigga he list the Rolling Stones for his second best song and if you was to ask Mick Jagger who was he imitating he’ll tell you James Brown.

Then the wanna be white dude list a John Lennon song as his third favorite song of all time and if that’s the case you fucking sell out why didn’t you sample his music to rap on in the beginning of your rap career.

what does Jay Z and Lionel Richie both have in common? They both wanna be white mane…

I don't know what to tell you, but those are some classic songs.

Surprising that there isn't any BIG in there though lol.

I can't hate on any list that includes "What's Goin' On". That's probably my favorite song. For that matter, "Imagine" is up there too.

And you do realize this funk era that you're speaking on his "old ass" growing up in was the same era as the songs he listed as his favorites. I don't see it as wanting to be white since Marvin and Aretha are most definitely not white people, I'd view it more as wanting to show he has more depth to his musical interests than just hip-hop. It's not like he came up with the fucking Monkees or some Bee-Gees music, he picked legitimately great songs.

Jay was never a hiphop-head like that.. he likes Coldplay and Beatles & stuff like that..

I'd view it more as wanting to show he has more depth to his musical interests than just hip-hop.

dont think he was tryin to show/prove anythin. he simply picked his 5 faorites..

Nah this list has 'let-me-try-to-sound-different' written all over it.

Come on No Biggie? Shit I'm shocked he didn't find a way to throw one of his own songs on there. But seriously for him not to have a single Hip-Hop artist on there is impossible.

No way.  That list is a very stereotypical top 5 list for many people.

JAy is 40-41 now??
When is was 15 my favorite song was a bitch is a bitch by NWA now its def not that at the age i am and when i am 40 i will probably laugh how silly that song is.
The guy is 40 his 5 favorite songs wont be the same as when he was 20 or even 30.

I can't even understand why some people get so mad at this, instantly going off about how a white guy is on number one.
Shut the fuck up. I'm not even going to discuss, just shut up.

Jay-Z was a 90s rapper himself and fully grown by the time hip hop even made it to the mainstream. Most of my favorite songs are ones from my childhood/teenage years.

And why does a rapper's favorite type of music have to be rap? He raps because he has the skill to do it and because he's successful at it.

Yeah iam 29 now and my music taste has not changed 'too' much but it has broadened/expanded, gotten a little softer so the list dosent completely suprise me taht someone at Jay's age lieks of of that sort of shit.
Iam not at that point yet but iam not strictly hip hop or nothing like i used to be, i couldnt even stand any r&b at all in hip hop but now i liek songs like "love drunk" so its differant generations and part of getting older it would seem.
Aint grown out hip hop though.

So, you honestly belive that if a white person enjoys music from a black artist that he must want to be black or as you put it 'suck black dick", and if a black person listens to music from a white artist he's tying to be white, suck white dick? You honestly feel like that?
Thats prettyy simple minded and short sighted, a limited and restricted way of thinking and your missing out on some good music then.
So all them Japanese and etc that enjoy western music must wish they were black or white then too, huh?
But his list is pretty shit IMo, i wont deny that.

but you have to remember, being a so-called "different" person is in nowadays (even though most of these people look, act, and dress the same and have the same political views).  Some years back that's a unique list for a rapper or rap fan, but today, lots of folks wanna sound cultured when they know damn well they ain't.  As for Jay-Z, if he likes those songs, more power to him theyre awesome and substantial songs.

jay is a little older, but i feel like hes trying to separate himself from his contemporary's with this list more then anything.

hes on kanyes dick real hard lately and kanye recently stated some bullshit on how he cant listen to hip hop in his apartment because his apt was too "nice".

jay is on his pop star shit.

if he said his fave record of all time was a biggie album that would be too "protocol", i imagine now every rap nigga in the world is gonna have a fave song list with beatles and dylan and shit on it.

Okay, I'm lazy and I just skimmed this whole thread so I'm probably missing something, but do you people think Jay-Z picked these five songs?  And it's just a coincidence that it's same top five in order that Rolling Stones picked in their top 500 songs ever?

So Jay wants us to believe he grew up listening to Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones, John Lennon? I won't even give him a pass on Marvin Gaye.  He's obviously is trying to come off as some music intellect, when anyone with a brain knows he probably just started listening to these people a couple years ago TOPs

and I'm not saying those are bad songs, some of those all time great tracks
