It's dope but his production still need work.  It' missing some element.  Also, he doesn't have many energetic "GET THE PLACE LIVE" tracks.  I don't mean party joints but the kind that gets you excited and full of life.

He's slowly becoming very repetitive  :-\

As much as I don't want to, I kinda agree. It feels like he's using the same lines over and over again only used with a different flow than the others, and he's still got a lot to learn production-wise.
As far as the mixtape goes, most of the songs have been floating on the web for ages and new tracks don't stand out. I'll give this tape a few more spins and try to let it grow on me. I just wish Cole would spit over DJ Premier or Eric B beats for a change instead of producing every fucking song himself (it may be cheaper, but I can't help but think he's focusing too much on the instrumental as opposed to what to say over it).

Excited to bump this.

Given the feedback I'm reading, I'm assuming it's not as good as "The Warm Up"; but we'll see.

Admittedly, to me, the better tracks have been out for a while now so it's not special hearing them on this tape (BLOW UP, HIGHER).   Plus, he said some people will prefer this over his album so I'm not sure how to take that.

I've always thought duke was repetitive when it came to the subject matter.  He usually talks about pussy, feeling guilty about pussy, struggle, and braggadicio then wash, rinse, and repeat.  Either in an aggressive voice or non-aggressive voice.  Not necessary a critique, just that this wasn't the issue with the tape for me but his production on the tracks I hadn't heard were not impressive.  It was boring especially when I've bumping Ye's music which is sonically fleshed out.

Charles Hamilton should really get his shit together on the marketing side cause as a producer he's really talented and it shows compared to his peers.

So 1  1/2 months later i can safely say that J Cole and Kendrick Lamar dropped the best mixtapes in 2010 for me. Friday Night Lights has been in rotation since it dropped and it doesnt sound repetitive to me at all. The amount of good songs equals in a lot of replay value. Songs like "Too Deep For the Intro" "Enchanted" and "2 Face" make it worth to give the whole thing another spin. And most of all, Cole can SPIT!

You realised this now?
Anyway I admit calling it repetitive was abit much (waiting hours for him to release the tape on twitter had me expecting it to blow Warm Up out of the water) but the tape did have it's weak points. Cole kept rapping about how he made something from nothing and how he's going to change the game. Plus he produced almost every track himself, at first listen it was like listening to the same song 19 times, minus the already leaked songs which I'd played to death by then. Still the tape eventually grew on me, plus the joints Cole's released since then like Leave Me Alone, NY State of Mind freestyle and Buyou have been ace so I'm still gonna cop his album when it drops.

yeah, and i came here the same 30 seconds to tell you.

if he had 16 different producers people would say it has no identity cause everything sounds too different and what not. i see what you're saying content wise, but you can tell everything wasnt recorded at the same time so i forgive him.

I have not bumped this tape since it dropped.  I was disappointed and part of this is having an active role in downloading many of the doper tracks before the tape leaked so they were all relatively played out by then.

Really, oh you shouldn't have :D.

I didn't mean that he should've had all the tracks produced by different people, but just to leave half of the producing to the team he's been using for so long. Elite and Voli have yet to disappoint. Plus Cole rapping over an dope Premo or 9th Wonder beat wouldn't hurt either.
