Just watched "The Departed" again the other day, having recently purchased it on bluray. Also, there's the original Hong Kong version called "Infernal Affairs" which is actually the first movie in a trilogy. Personally, I thought "Infernal Affairs" was good, but a little tougher to follow than "The Departed." Still worth checking out though.

ive actually watched a LOT more of these than i realized, still need to peep a couple more, and i wana try out them old school 30s ones, thats were i been slacking

Road To Perdition is a REALLY good movie that is highly underrated.
-
One movie nobody should miss is the 2 part story of Jacques mesrine, a french gangster who was the living scarface of his era. His story is simply incredible and the actor playing the role should get at least a nomination if not an academy award hes just fantastic. Its a 2 part movie (killer instinct and public enemy number 1) but I consider it to be a whole and one of the best non american flick i seen in a while.

Tom Hanks is great

Agreed.
Also, The Town was the best gangsta flick to come out in a while.
-
I highly recommend "El Infierno"

Mexico's best movie since Amores Perros, if you don't count Pan's Labyrinth.
-
Just watched Fargo, with Buscemi. Not the conventional gangsta movie, but it's a cool movie. I enjoyed it. I'll watch road to perdition and the town next.
If i can get it, i'll try that mexican movie.
-
Blood In, Blood Out (Vatos locos!)
French Connection I n II (Gene Hackman)
The Outfit (Robert Duvall)
Point Blank (Lee Marvin)
Get Carter (Michael Caine)
Add some foreign gangster movies to the list like Mesrine I n II, Prophet and Infernal Affairs (Departed is based on it).

Fargo is one of the greatest movies of all times, doesnt have anything to do with gangster movies tho :)

I mean it was ok but too scarface wannabe in my opinion. And acting wasn't very good. Scarface is not what you would call a great movie but the acting in it make you wanna watch it again and again. I was just not feeling the characters in NJC. But i watched it while watching "the wire", so maybe there was too much contrast, i was in "realistic stuff" mood.

Yeah not a gangster movie but it was labelized like it on the dvd covers. The "gangster" appelation is a lil bit over used. But yeah a very good movie!
I've watched road to perdition. A good movie, even if the end was a bit predictable. Too bad every actors wasn't on Tom Hanks level. I've always thaught that Paul Newman was an overrated actor but he was good in that movie. So i've enjoyed that movie but it won't get replays like the godfather, the goodfellas and the Sopranos..

Done watching Bugsy. It was an ok movie but a movie based on Bugsy Seigel should have been much better. It was just too soft. And lol at Warren Beatty 50 + years old incarning Bugsy. It was obvious he was too old for the role. But since he's also the producer of the movie he had to be the star. Not the first time an actor producing casts himself for the lead role when he shouldn't.
Just got blood in blood out and l4yer cake in dvd, be playing them real soon.

The Layer Cake starring Daniel Craig is a must see

Hoodlum [1997]
