Title: Most Promising Label in 2003
Post by: Rag_J on December 28, 2002, 12:24:10 PM
Who do you think has the greatest potential?

Personally, I'm all down for Doggystyle. They gon' release Tha EastSidaz album, 213 album, Soopafly album, Latoiya Williams album(great voice gurl!)and Goldie Loc solo album

And a guy I know, is speaking of a new Snoop Dogg album in the end of the year, I don't believe innit, perhaps he's talkin' 'bout the 213 album.

Tha Row's next album ? & more

Posted Friday, December 27, 2002 by Rizla
The Row's next album will be a soundtrack to the film "Disfunkional Family". The film comes out in febuary and the soundtrack should follow. The expected date is sometime in february and the artists are still putting the finishing touches on it. The lead off single from the soundtrack will be a song performed by crooked i, which is intended to get him even more exposure, setting him up for his debut album set to drop in march/april 2003! The single for the soundtrack is said to be a more upbeat club song, the track was done by an atlanta based production team.

I dont know if any of this will happen now that Suge Knight is in jail. All of this is a rumour as none of this has been confirmed yet by The Row

tha row? i hope your joking. everything on doggystyle except for snoop is gonna go wood. snoops been out for over a month, and he's pushin what 300,000-400,00? and snoop is arguably the biggest name in the west.

its a no brainer. aftermath is gonna devastate everyone in sales. Detox, Cube, Rakim, Eminem, 50-these albums alone will probably total  over 10 mill in sales.

Yup, exactly, but the only ones out of those that will drop in 2003 is Ra and 50.  you won't see dre, cube, or em until 2004.

...

Post by: Rag_J on December 29, 2002, 06:51:06 AM
Yeah, Soopa is the first one out I think, not sure if RBX comes out in 2003

I'm looking forward to all of them doggystyle albums;

213
Tha Eastsidaz
Soopafly
E-White
La Toiya Williams
Mr.Kane(arrgh)

Aftermath and Shady is separate altough they work tight, and about aftermath: Dre use too long time on producing album, so we'll probably only see Cube's album, perhaps Rakim too. No way that we gon' see Emienm or Dre.

Title: Re:Most Promising Label in 2003

Aftermath definately: Rakim, Dr.Dre, Ice Cube, 50 Cent.. unbeatable... even if Dre comes in 2004..

I've lost much faith in Dogghouse:
Doggystyle Allstars - Pretty good, but it flopped.
Paid the Cost - Snoop's 2nd or 3rd worst album, and looks set to be a flop compared to his standard.

213 - I don't believe it before I see it..
LaToyia - I don't really care.. will most probably flop too.
Soopafly - Dope, but I can't see it selling more than 200K even with a good single.
Eastsidaz - There won't be more Eastsidaz-albums, at least not on Doggystyle..
Goldie Loc - The one I look most forward too, but let's face it - it won't sell much..

= Snoop is a fool for releasing Eastsidaz & Bad Azz from their contracts.

Are you crazy?  Look at daz, he sells like 8 copies of each cd and is still in business.  Snoop ain't never gonna go under, Doggystyle will still be around when he's 80.

I think Doggystyle Records will do sum good work in 2003 but rap fans wont be happy because the next release will be LaToiya Williams album and if they do good promotion the album might do good.Snoop is just tryin to create a new Motown (for those who know what I mean) Also Soopafly album should be tight too ..so u got 3 release next year LaToiya,Soopafly & 213 and thats cool for me

Aftermath wont do shit next year Ice Cube wont drop ...Rakim wont Drop...the only person that will make noise on this Label is Eminem ..With his Shady Record

Yeah, I see a little motown in doggystyle, but tha row was more like motown, they had a group of writers, a group of producers, just like motown, they started that 'living like a family' stuff up again.

Many people hate on Doggystyle, just because of their two releases this year. But with a neutral view on it, the albums weren't bad at all, it's just another style.
People forget their great releases, like THa EastSidaz, Doggy's Angels and Tha Last Meal.

And it's important to give them chance to establish themselves, they're pretty young, and in process of signing different artists. If people give them time, a few years, I think they can be the next big black label, Snoop surely has the skillz, and it's no doubt that the artists there are talented.

And no doubt they will keep on doing their thang, like a guy here said about dpgrecordz, they sells like 100 copies of each album and are still going strong.

DPG Recordz - You know that Daz is always dropping some heat. Some say that his shit is weak now, but for me he his straight heat. Be on the lookout for more Daz shit and also for Lil C-Style and PFN.

IV Life Records - Just some dope L.A rappers with dope L.A producers

Westside Records - Some chicano underground shit for your ears. Check all these comps and don't forget about the Mr. Jokes solo joints.

Old Town Records - They dropped some heat this year. I'm pretty sure that this won't change next year.

Shady/Aftermath & Doggystyle will be runnin' the shit in 2003. Just like the old days: Snoop & Dre + the family on top of the game... Different settings & different times, but still doin' the damn thing... And not just Cali, they all over the place - specially with Aftermath's roster: 50, Rakim, Eminem, Dre & Cube...

I've forgotten another hot label called "Down 4 My Shit Records". They are outta L.A and have dropped a couple of really good albums in 2002.

Here's a uncomplete list of tight shit that they have released:

1. V/A - Down 4 My Shit Vol. 1
2. V/A - Down 4 My Shit Vol. 2
3. Mr. Chino - Friday The 13th
4. Youngster - The Straight G (very hot album)
5. V/A - L.A County Surenos (very hot album)
6. Youngster Presents Firme Oldies

When they are able to keep the level of their releases or will even be on a higher level I need to say, that everdody should be on the lookout for Down 4 My Shit Records releases.

Any thoughts. May not sell like Aftermath, but Quik always comes nice.

Dj Quick is the shit! Personally, I don't give a fuck about how much it sells, as long as it's good. The market wants radio friendly music, or white musicians, or both. THat's the truth.
