From best to worst, how would you rate Snoop's official albums?
1. Doggystyle - 10/10 - This is my personal favorite rap album in history. Many debate this album vs. the Chronic, but Snoop's flow, charm, wit, delivery, and lyrics perfectly match Dre/Daz's timeless beats. Basically every song on the album is classic.
2. Tha Last Meal - 8.5/10 - This album gave much hope to Snoop, after releasing many mediocre albums. One complaint I do have, just as with "Paid the cost" is that the bootleg had some better songs than what were on the real album, such as "Heard it thru the eastside" and "When I wake up." However, this album had some dope songs on it, some of the best of which never were released on radio or TV. This CD gave everyone hope that Snoop and the West would return to the rap scene.
3. No Limit Top Dogg - 8/10 - This album stayed in everybody's CD player when it first came out, and signaled the reunion of Dre and Snoop. This CD is probably the most unbalanced CD to me, seeing it had super dope songs like "B Please" "Down 4 my niggz" and "Jus Dippin" but then terrible songs like "In love with a thug."
4. Paid the cost to be the boss - 7.5/10 - Some may question why I rated this CD above Doggfather. For one reason, the production on the majority of the tracks are top notch, and when Snoop wants, he still brings heat. One bad thing about this album is that both bootlegs that were released earlier this year had better songs than this album. If Snoop had kept half of the songs he dropped from the bootlegs, and dropped half the songs that made the real CD, this CD may have been up there with Tha Last Meal. This is by far Snoop's most diverse CD, but it is too up and down to me. The two Neptunes songs sound like throwaway beats, and songs like "Paper'd up" just suck.
5. Doggfather - 7/10 - Some call this the worst rap album in history compared to it's expectations. But what the hell do u expect? For one, Snoop had just got out of jail, Death Row was breaking apart, and there was NO Dr. Dre. Snoop does not have anywhere near the charm and humor as he showed on Doggystyle, and many of the beats were weak. This CD has a few standout tracks, but even they were somewhat forgetable. This CD may not be as terrible as some say it was, but this is because everybody was hoping for another Doggystyle, which was basically impossible.
6. Da game is to be sold - 5/10 - Was this a real album? Most of Snoop's fans from the West were hopeful that their most celebrated artist still in the game was now with the hottest record label at the time. However, No Limit and Snoop were like water and ice cream; they are good in completely different ways when separated, but together, they make each other suck. Snoop had a few dope tracks, but other than Woof, all of the No Limit influenced songs sucked. Still a G Thang was a hit when it was released, but I ask everyone to listen to it now....this song doesn't sound half as good as it did. My favorite track from this album now is "Money Hoes and Clout" which most people barely paid attention to when it was released. Most of the beats suck, and No Limit was trying too hard to make Snoop fit into the No Limit famiily....this is like putting Harry Potter in Bernie Mac's family, which obviously just doesn't work.

On a similar note, would yall say snoop is dope, like top 10 or so? Or would yall say he's useless now and you don't care if he ever brings another album out.

I'd say he's still in the top 10 as he's always been. And I'll definatly buy new shit coming from that corner, like the 213 album.

I would say that Snoop is still dope but no way he's in the top ten now. He's certainly not unless eventhough I probably won't be amped for his albums like I used to be, but I sure as hell want him to keep putting albums out.

...yeah, ya know, Snoop is entertaining to listen to, but I wouldn't consider him top ten. Really, IMO, most of his lyrics are pretty simple...

I like Paid the cost... I think it's a tight album, and the Reason I like Top Dogg more then Last Meal is because I feel there's an overdose of Kokane on there... just couldn't handle Koke on 8 of 18 tracks...
Peace

Aint heard Dead Man Walkin'
-
Dead Man Walkin should not be listed as a Snoop album, it was something Tha Row put out to try to lower the sales of Tha Last Meal
-
The only reason I listed Dead Man Walkin was to illustrate how much I hated Paid the cost...
-
Although its clear to see Snoop will never touch doggystyle again... I think paid the cost is pretty tite... just a different album for a different time...
Any questions about snoops dopeness should be ansered by the fact that he put in most of the lyrical work on the original Chronic wich in my mind is the most influential hip hop album of all time....
