Bud Adams just informed his GM to find a way to get rid of Vince Young. Trade him to Indy for Jeff Saturday and then get Peyton to come over at the end of the season. I think it's time for Peyton to give Tennessee the Championship he couldn't give them in college.
-
I don't agree with this decision at all. However I will continue supporting the team obviously. I feel like Young gives this franchise the absolute best chance to win and that's extremely obvious through the #s. They are an above average team when he starts football games and below average when he doesn't.
I don't agree with this. Would have rid the team of Fisher & kept Young. Oh well.
Now what do you do at QB? I didn't want to draft one (desperately need to upgrade the D-Line & LB corps, and need more depth in the secondary). Plus at #8 in the draft, Andrew Luck (if he comes out) or whoever probably won't be there.
The most realistic bet is to grab Mcnabb via signing (Washington should cut him) or Orton or Kolb via trade (2nd round pick would do the trick).
I've heard next year's QB class is phenomenal and deep, so I would wait it out to draft a new franchise QB but for this coming season, Kerry Collins or Rusty Smith is NOT the answer.
-
Or convince Peyton to come back to Tenn
Seriously, I think they can still get a QB at #8. Luck won't be there but Mallot and Locker should be. Locker may even be there by round 2 #8. Kolb would be a good fit in Tenn I think.
But with Wade going to Houston, it's going to be tough to beat the Texans next year. (if next year happens)
-
Andrew Luck will be the second greatest person ever, after Tom Brady (given).
Locker will be pretty good; hit or miss though.
Mallet, ehh. I have my doubts.
-
Anyway, solid move. No racism, but Black QBs don't win Superbowls.
Actually, to be a little more respectful, "scrambling QBs" don't win Superbowls.
-
So where's my boy gonna start next year? He deserves a starting job

Depends on the draft & who needs a QB.
They may trade him, so he technically could go anywhere.
But if they release him, some QB-less, non-contender will throw him a deal.

He could end up in a lot of places. He can compete to start in Buff, Minn, SF, Carolina, Wash, Miami, Arizona, Oak, Indy (if all goes as I hope). So I have no clue where he'll be. I'm sure Jamarcus Russel has a burger with Vinny's name on it though.
-
Because I'm still a fan of his, the best realistic situation for him would be Oak, SF or Arz. I think those four teams are a QB away from being contenders. Oak went 8-8 with Jason Campbell lol. That's 10-6 with Vince Young

The QB talent in the draft just decreased a bit....Luck is staying at Stanford.

Andrew Luck is going to be amazing, however; he's a complete moron lol.

Sounds like some shit Al Davis would do...he likes giving guys second chances. But as a Raider fan...I'm good. Id rather see us give Campbell another year under the same system (hopefully Hue Jackson stays). He was productive playing for a fucked up team in Washington. And this year he had his moments where he looked very good. You can tell he was never able to get completely comfortable. It didnt help having Cable bench him a couple times. He needs to know its his team and go out there and play. If they are gonna go in another direction, I'm still good on Young. Dont want a guy who couldnt hold the respect of his own locker room. He's a basket case lol.

Yeah...not sure how "youre going to be the number 1 pick in the draft" isnt enough to make a guy leave college. The best possible scenario next year will be.......he's the number one pick in the draft. Worst case is, he gets Theismanned and never plays again.
-
Not even that, but he's leaving so much money on the table.
There could very well be no NFL season. First pick gets like 50+ million guarenteed. If he waits & there is no season, the following season that guarenteed money might be millions & millions less.
I mean, I pray he's not just being a little bitch & just doesn't want to play for the Panthers. What does he think? He's going to be the number one pick & be on a contender?
-
Ya, I'm surprised by Luck's decision. I thought about "I don't wanna be a Panther", but shit, any team bad enough to pick you at #1 is usually just as bad as this year's Panthers

You know, I think the same way. I honestly would love for Al to get Young, but I am not sure that's what the Raiders need right now. They need stability, even more so now that Cable is gone. Campbell was not impressive but one more year in the system with Hue Jackson, instead of Cable who was ready to pull him for Boller if he felt like it, could be good for Campbell's confidence. Cable really loved Gradkowski, who like Cable was way over his head for the job he had but had that fire to him that make people believe in him. That's great but that doesn't win Super Bowls. So maybe Campbell reaches his promise of college when he lead Aurburn to an undefeated season.
Jackson I have no doubt will be the best Raider coach since Gruden. One more year of his system could finally allow Campbell and the Raiders to have some stability; which I think is much more important to the team than a QB upgrade at this point. If Cable stayed, then Jackson leaves and takes his offence too. Cable does not have his own system that he runs, he doesn't call plays well and he is more of a players coach. That's all good as long as you have a guy like Jackson with you who can call the X's and O's. So hopefully Jackson stays, Campbell is given the first chance since his sophmore year in college to play in a system two years in a row, and Vince Young finds a good home.
I will not knock Young's personal problems, I think in the macho world of football, mental health is looked down at and this hurts the players who truly need help. Instead, dirt is thrown on their name and other teams see them as uncoachable. I hope Young finds a team that can work with him and offers a healthy environment that will allow him to shine, find that head coach who's like Phil Jackson in the NBA. But I know one think, Oakland has never been that place for a player like Young.

fish is a titan for life
VY will be AMAZING with Peterson or Fitzgerald

The thing is, a dominant QB isnt what we need the most right now. We just need a serviceable one. And Campbell can be decent. Like u said, he just needs consistency and needs to know he wont be yanked for one bad half. Thats gonna play on any QB's psyche. We need our WR's to develop a little more, they are still so young. I would love to see us get some veteran receiver in there. Chaz Shillens I really like, but he cant stay healthy for shit. Jacoby Ford has GOT to be on the field. Louis Murphy isnt bad either. Heyward Bey...they are REALLY gonna have to find a way to get this guy going this off season...or that project might need to be scrapped soon.
Rather than worrying about another new QB, I would rather us focus on our Defense. Our front four is very good. But we could use a little more help at linebacker and in the secondary.

thing is is that people questions his work ethic, maturity level and his state of mind
-
I think his "state of mind" thing is blown outta proportion. His work ethic would be a concern for me if its true that he's missed multiple team meetings and has issues grasping the playbook
-
If he's willing to block and catch, because we know Fitz is, (the blocking part anyway), I think a 2QB system is worth a try here in Buffalo. He wouldn't have to really learn the playbook the way a normal QB would and he could just run and catch and throw while Fitz does all the thinking. It's worth a shot for a team that's stuck in a death division. I still like our chances going forward.
