On 2001's What's the Difference, I thought I read from an interview or something somewhere that Dre was dissing Ren on that song. I tried finding that info but couldn't. Can someone please point me in the right direction? thanks!

He was..
but had a robotic voice over it for cover up.
Then I got these fake-ass niggaz I first drew with
Claimin that they non-violent, talkin like they *voice sample*
voice sample is ruthless aimed at Mc Ren
They made eup and he put him on LA NIggaz

Ahhhh that was it. Props.

yeah the original version had the line "talking like they ruthless".
Ren was mad at Dre for the fact that the NWA album wasn't coming out.
so Dre responded.

I always wondered who it was on the chorus, thanks for clearing that up. I thought that the voice sample was something like 'used to be' and not 'ruthless' haha.
It's funny that there's a diss and a track with Ren on the same album. I always thought Snoop dissed him on the Chronic intro too until someone pointed out that he was in fact getting a shout out.
