(http://www.dubcnm.com/artistimages/juaquin_hawkins.jpg)In 2002-2003 Season Juaquin Hawkins had realized his lifelong goal of becoming a professional NBA basketball player being the oldest rookie in the league at the time. Unfortunately tragedy struck him. A little over a year ago Juaquin suffered a debilitating stroke. His doctors predicted he might never be able to engage in physically exerting activities let alone play basketball professionally again. He proved them wrong and is now playing for the Los Angeeles Lightning of the IBL, in addition to his charitable work with his foundation. We got to link up with him at one of his camps.

In other exciting news, Juaquin's Hoops for Hope event has been rescheduled to coincide with All Star weekend. For more information visit his foundation's website (http://www.hawkhoopssportsfoundation.org/).

My mom knows his mom and his niece. She was telling me about him a couple of years ago, so it's great to see that he's doing big things in terms of helping others and continuing his dream despite having suffered a stroke.
Props DubCNN for this interview.
