Title: Sources: Lakers, Nuggets talk Melo
Post by: lbc213 on February 08, 2011, 10:27:15 AM
The Lakers and the Denver Nuggets have had preliminary discussions about a blockbuster trade that would send Carmelo Anthony to Los Angeles, according to league sources. The Lakers' package would be built around Andrew Bynum.

Obviously there would have to be some other compensation than just Bynum. Melo for Bynum is not even close to an even trade lol. But Denver is going to get desperate. Also, Melo Im sure would need to sign an extension with the Lakers for them to pull the trigger.

Maybe it's a bargaining tool against the Knicks.

Wow this would piss me off, I hate how the Lakers always get regular All-Stars when they only give up trash in return.

On the other hand it would be funny to see how Kobe copes with deferring to Melo's ass.

i can see the NBA allowing this to happen based on greed

but why would DENVER do this?  they hate LA

Again, Denver is going to get desperate and just want to get SOMEthing for him. They wont win a championship this year anyways, and Melo is gone at the end of the year.

All they are saying is that they are talking and that Bynum would be the player involved. Doesnt mean the Nuggets are going to do it for sure.

Brousard said a couple of days ago, when this was a rumored rumor, that it would by Bynum & Odom for Melo.

Maybe it'll change.

lol as if Melo is going to have an issue living in LA and playing for a world championship team. He and his family already have a house in LA.

I think they're saying that already has changed, Bynum and Odom combined is way too much extra salary for Denver to take on. Supposedly they're trying to get a third team involved or something

Obviously Bynum injury prone ass is a problem but even if we would trade Melo for Bynum straight up we can say goodbye to the ship ... rebounds and defense win titles ...

Bynum isnt the end-all, be-all of centers. As long as we can get a competent big man in his place (someone at least along the lines of like a Brendan Haywood) to fill in the limited minutes that Bynum was getting the past few years, we'd be good. Bynum barely even fuckin played in the 2009 Finals and we still whooped that ass.

Prediction, 'Melo ends the season as a Nugget, this off season, before he can meet with NY to sign as a free agent, the Nuggets and Lakers do a sign and trade, 'Melo to LA for Bynum, Ron Ron and Luke Walton... okay okay, I just threw in Luke Walton.

Fisher
Kobe
Melo ---> Artest
Odom
Gasol

Sorry, but if you can't win with that lineup, you don't deserve to be an NBA franchise; plus they already have a fairly deep bench.

Take away the fastbreaks, & Kobe & Melo almost equal Wade & LeBron, so technically speaking, it's basically the Heat, but with Artest, Odom, Gasol & a bunch of players Miami would take in a second over who they currently have.

Thank you. Like I said, Bynum isn't the ultimate center or anywhere close. Even though he's shown great fluidity in his offense, we only need him for his defensive presence, and that's replaceable.

I think Melo's offense is enough to replace the defense. Melo isn't some "good player", he's an amazing, Top 10 player in the league. Swap LeBron & Wade with Melo & Kobe those two in Miami would be dominate. Adding with who you already have in LA, it won't even be a contest.

Since the Heat went on that run & take away the games the three didn't play together, they are like 28-2 in their last 30 together. If the Lakers get Melo today (for Bynum & not much else), they BETTER, not "should", BETTER lose no more then a max of four games the rest of the season (barring injury or days of rest).

Throwing in Luke Walton is like getting a free oil change when you buy your new Mercedes Benz

Im thinking Denver is just using these "Laker talks" as a way to have leverage with the Knicks. Once the Nets pulled out, the Nuggets had NO leverage whatsoever anymore.

Winning titles is not about just adding individual talents together ... even if they don't play the same position , we all can agree Melo is a better player than Bynum and it is not even closed but a Lakers team starting with LO at the 4 AND Gasol playing full time at the center position would get killed by Boston (like we were in 2008) , Melo or not ...

the main advantage Lakers have over others teams is they are able to start two seven footers in the paint ... it forces the opponent team to defend Gasol with their power forward which is in 99% of the time a mismatch in LA favor ...  then we  bring a versatile PF (LO ) off the bench for who most of the teams don't have any answer

Bynum is physically wearing down the opponent center then we can finish the game with a more versatile combo inside LO/Gasol

Kevin Garnett is gonna SHIT ON Gasol in the finals if LA makes it
