Above the Rim is probably the most classic album, especially since it had non-Death Row artists whose songs were also singles.

My personal favorite out of those was Gang Related though.

yeah

Gang Related has the best 3 songs of ANY of these soundtracks:  Made Niggaz, Starin Thru My Rearview and Life's So Hard

yes i know Rearview was also on Resurrection but it was first on Gang RElated

plus Gang Related had Get Yo Bang Onm, Locc Out hood and the Hollywood Bank robbery song.

I've voted for MWTC for an obvious reason: it's the best :)

Seriously the flick was G'd up with Charlie Murphy in it, the song 21 jumpstreet was off the chizzy, Jewell, Quik dissin'  8, Natural Born Killaz  was untestable....94 was the year,

murder was the case is the best of a point of view quality but i would put gang related equal via quality/quantity
above the rim is definitly not one of my favorites too many r&b songs never listening more than the half of the cd

I like 'Pac but Ressurection OST isin't even in a Top 10 let alone the BEST from the West..

I'll go with MWTC slight ahead of Gang Related.

MWTC is generally one of the best hip-hop albums of all time so it easily gets my vote.  Gang Related has some great joints too, but the length makes it lose out.  A bit too weighty for a soundtrack in my opinion.

The Bones soundtrack is definitely way too underrated if you ask me. From beginning to end (or almost). Can't say the same for Above the Rim (too many r'n'b, not enough Death Row, in fact it shoulda been just DR, just like The Wash shoulda been just Snoop & Dre, Doggy Style & Aftermath)

#1.  Murder Was The Case

-this album was a MONSTER.  Snoop was on top of the rap world at the time and they knew they needed to capatalize on his popularity but they didnt have a sophmore LP in the can, but they had to get him out... Snoop had the idea to do some rap version of Jacksons Thriller, with a song and the movie... so thus came Murder Was the Case.

Snoops homies really shined on this record, the LBC Crew and Dogg Pound shined on tracks like "21 Jumpstreet" and "Who Got Some Gangsta Shit" and "What would You do"....

but to top it all off the two Monster tracks of "Natural Born Killaz" (which was origionally for the Natural Born Killaz movie) and "Murder Was The Case" remix.

Also Sam Sneed and DJ Quik provided memorable tracks with Quik going after MC8.

Classic shit... remember I got it as a Christmas gift as it came out just in time for those holiday boost in sale numbers!

It's a toss up between Above The Rim & MWTC. ATR had the better r&b singles.

I really liked Gang Related, think ATR is a classic, but come on....MWTC shits on any other westcoast sdtrk.

How ya gonna fuck with

MWTC remix
Natural Born Killas
What Would You Do
21 Jump Street

all of the above are straight classics, and they were the first four joints.  Forget sdtrks, name another album with the first four songs on that level.  You add One More day, WHo Got some Gangsta Shit, and Dollas and Sense, and this is a no brainer.

I've always been a fan of the Menace II Society Soundtrack.

Yeah, me too.
Spice 1`s "Trigga gots no heart" is also a classic. "straight up menace" by MC Eiht.

If they put "Ghetto Bird" on the tape it woulda been amazing. And why issent that Bloods and Crips song over the computer love instrumental on the album??

Not only westcoast artists on the soundtrack though.

but I'd say MAkaveli started out with 4 better songs, and so did the Chronic and disc 1 of All Eyez On Me. and Me Against the World started out with 4 better songs too.

bones ost wasn't nearly as good as murder was the case or gang related

You act like a pitbul which cut it's rope and attacking around with saliveries around it's mouth...
be calm, some people doesn't have to think same with you always, what happened in your childhood? what made you so unable to endure difficulties

i just said, it would be better if bones ost exists in the list... that is why u are swearing? i am not even swearing at people when they say "recovery" is the best album
of eminem.... damn...

if you listen bones ost again, you will see amazing productions by fredwreck, battlecat, muggs, eminem, you will see amazing perfermances by west coast legendaries
like mc ren, cypress hill, nate dogg, snoop dogg, butch cassidy, kurupt, xzibit, kokane... there are more...

i repeat, it should be in the list for a fair pool...

peace!

SHit, and U betta Recognize...how could I forget.   I don't know, track for track, its hard for any album to compare to the beginning of this IMO.  AEOM and MATW are better albums though, as is the Chronic.  I think the first 5 songs on MWTC are so impressive as they are different artists...

And i agree. Streiht up Menace was my shit, so Menace to Society is up there.   BUt consistency wise, nothing is fucking with MATW

fuck judging against other soundtracks...I put MWTC in my top 10 favorite albums.  If the original Life's So Hard was on there instead of 1 of those R&B songs, and Swoop G's 20 Dollars instead of a R&B song, then it might even make top 5 for me.

I remember I first got this as a dubbed tape.  I had seen the MWTC music video so many times and loved the song.  When I first got the tape, that is the only song I listened to for at least 1 week.  I would just continuously rewind it and listen to it again.  And then I finally moved on and checked out the other songs and was instantly hooked.  I had never heard of DJ Quik at the time and absolutely loved that song.  Haha funny thing is, I didn't even like What Would You Do too much back then...now it is one of my all time favorite DPG songs.

21 Jumpstreet was probably my all time favorite.  I was an instant fan of Tray Deee.

And talking about missing soundtracks from the poll...Friday is the next best OST.
