Title: Lost Sessions v1 is the best Snoop release since Doggystyle
Post by: OG Hack Wilson on February 10, 2011, 06:17:07 PM
I wanted to say Doggfather was better but having songs like Eat a Dick, Doggystyle, Genie, Keep It Real Dogg etc. makes it impossible to pick againt this.

I would rather listen to Tha Last Meal, Doggfather, infact quite a few of the other albums. There was a reason why the majority of the tracks on that CD weren't released and that to me is that they sound unfinished. Maybe its just the poor mastering thats making me say this but I seriously struggle to listen to this album. Keep It Real on Greatest Hits is better than the one on this.

i love hearing Snoop rap 3 verses over that beat instead of hearing him rap 0 and just talk like the other one

you don't like the genie, eat a dick, doggystyle or Caught Up???

They are probably the 4 best tracks on there. I would never feel like I have to go back and check the songs for nostalgia or anything like that. Replay value is low for me. This is probably my East Coast bias talking though.

EDIT: It is a shame Doggystyle was left off the DS album though.  8)

its also a shame "Smoke On" and "Poor Young Dave" were released as bonus's instead of being the first 2 songs on Lost Sessions

Not even close.  "Lost Sessions" would have been a half decent release if the sound quality wasn't so weak but even then, it still has nothing on Top Dogg, Doggfather, Last Meal, or some of the better Snoop solos.

Lost Sessions not Snoop's best release or his 2nd best release, but it's in the top 5 Snoop albums IMO.

Lost Sessions is dope but I consider it more of a compilation than an album.  There are definitely some tracks on there though that are so good I can't believe they weren't released sooner.  The only other thing that I would have liked to see on there would have been the track "Every Single Day."  I remember it was originally even listed on the "One Sheet" they released, as being on there.  They must have changed their minds at the last minute.  Hopefully they'll do a volume 2 and put it on that one.

Blue Carpet Treatment was dope in my opinion.

I agree.  That was one I kind of slept on for a while too, but when I went back and listened to it I was pleasantly surprised.

It's definitely not an album. It's a collection of scraps and alternate tracks. There are definitely some gems on there no question but it's basicallly the retail equivalent of one of those Makaveli bootlegs. Nostalgia is a mother fucker for some of you. You'll give high reviews to average material because it's from an era you like.

Some real good cuts from Lost Sessions. doesnt feel like an album though and there's a reason why those tracks were left off, and it shows on some of them.

Yeah it's a very inconsistent 'album'.  One for the hardcore Death Row fans only really.
