True, but Bishop came to most people's attention AFTER signing with the math, and most didn't know him before that. Kendrick on the otherhand, most people here knew him way before this. I'll agree with you though that people jump on anybody Dre/Aftermath affiliated, but I will say that they do have reason, since Aftermath material is usually better than everything else.
I first heard K. Dot on Game's Cali Niggaz (which was one of Game's best IMO) and didn't care too much for him. I thought he was trying to sound and rap like Wayne, but over the next few years I thought he was alright. Still don't care much for him, although I WILL check for his shit a little more now that he's working with Aftermath. Still i'm not gonna come out and act like I'm a longtime fan and he's amazing and all that shit, so I feel you on that.

I didnt like Bishop lamont and couldnt understand why he was all over Warren g's album an why Dre later sighned him. Must admit though recent stuff he's put out has got me seeing potential and definate skill.
ANYHOW, Kendrick lamar, must admit i was sleeping, i had downloaded songs of his from here but didnt even listen to them.
The "look out for detox' and him working with Dre made me check. "look ouit for Detox' is pretty cool.
I still wasnt sold but a couple weeks ago i watched several of his music video's on you tube and i was really really impressed.
Dude has gothis own style. He's got good producers working with him, judgeing from the beats i heard, he can rhyme real smooth and laid back but also quite fast and aggressive.
I thought his style was original. His topic matter wasnt just the sam old same old.
Got me onto watching videos from other guys like Schoolboy Q and Lock smith and i realised i had been sleeping.
To me these guys are better than the Nipsey hustle, Glasses Malones , etc guys that seem to have more hype.
I actually orderd some cds from amazon last night and was dissapointed to see Kendrick only has a digital album.

Dre could walk out on stage with a goat on a leash and be like, "YALL LOOK OUT FOR MY NIGGA GOAT BREATH.... DETOX." Boom, 17 threads on the front page, people upping old youtubes of a goat claiming they was fans from wayyy back, wiggers start gettin MAAAAAD CHILLS and passing out in front of their monitors...

Some people were sleeping on him before Dre cosigned him (as some have admitted to in this thread).
But he was getting love before the cosign. I listened to OD last year when there was a thread about it and was loving it as was all the comments I read. It made noise on the itunes chart as I recall. As far what's so special about him...Is he the next Eminem? No. But his rhymes are dope, production is dope and he knows how to make not only songs but songs with content. His shit is hot. Honestly the only issue I have with him is his mic presence isn't superstar status. Way more hyped for this dude than a slim the mobster song :-X

I agree. He wasn't getting nearly this amount of attention before. It's sad that it takes a damn picture with Dr. Dre for this kid to get some shine but I'm glad he's getting it. Definitely the most talented on Top Dawg. His rendition of Lil' Wayne's album was dope. However, K. Dot > Kendrick Lamar (both are still dope though, lol).

yeah but Xzibit had that abrasive rapping style and commanding presence on the mic. he MADE YOU wanna listen to what the fuck he was saying. IMO, kendrick lamar is way too soft to be the new face of the west. dude sounds like a 3rd grader on the mic and to me doesnt have that IT factor, his music almost sounds like underground hip hop/soul... cmon now, black hippy? most of the hardcore west coast rap fans i know want something a lil more edgy. although i fuck with schoolboy q tho, that "whats the word" joint is fuckin dope!

+1 homie was missing a few of these joints. I like Kendrick cos he aint your typical west coast rapper yet he hangs with and comes from a typical west coast gangster background so he can tell those stories, son is mad dope and am anticipating his collab tape with J Cole hard

I was sleeping on this dude but after giving him a chance on the Purp and Yellow remix, he was alright, despite his particular alien-like voice lol. I then stumbled upon his Monster Freestyle, dude just raped that shit. Watched that recent interview with Devi Dev, and dude seems mad dope, very much a fan of west coast hip hop, kinda like game, minus that big ego.
Looking forward to seeing what he does with Game and Dre on Detox. 8)
