LOL yes. I think we are heading in the correct direction. perhaps it could also be a sign of fruity maturity. like how they also change colour when they ripen.  ;)

" Bananas were originally straight.
}
} They only recently became bent, a genetic mutation caused by the
} various nuclear tests performed in the Pacific.
}
} The French tests at Mururoa, if allowed to go ahead, will cause
} yet more mutations, resulting in spiral bananas. This would
} normally be considered to be inconvenient, as they will be even
} more difficult to pack, however as all of the banana pickers will
} have died of cancer, it is unlikely to be noticed."

Are you serious? That's crazy. I just thought it was the maturing process like a couple of other people.

Aaight, lemme drop some science on yo asses... (I got this from the side of a Chiquita juice canister)

Bananas start growing straight, but as they grow longer, they start turnin' towards the sun. That's why they're crooked.

Sorry to ruin yo fun y'all.

LoL, this is another explanation...

At first the small bananas grow downwards. After a few days the bracts gradually fall away. Row after row the individual "hands" of bananas develop on the bunch. Then, with exposure to light, the bananas´growth hormones make them defy gravity an start growing upwards. In the process they bend and acquire their typical curved shape. Scientists call this phenomenon "negativ geotropsim"
