Did he sign an extension?

If he is offered an extension (which he without a doubt will be) & declines to sign it, that's almost a 100% lock he's going to the Knicks when a Free Agent.

I don't really understand why the Nets would do this. Rumors are already claiming D Will is shocked and unhappy with the deal. He won't stay there. They gave up a good young player in Favors, 2 first round picks (basically 3 first round picks since Favors was a 1st round choice) and a very decent player in Devin Harris. I can't see D Will being any happier in New Jersey than Utah (and its not like he asked for a trade).

From Utah's perspective, why did you let your hall of fame coach of 20+ years quit over a player u deal a week/two weeks later? Surely they could have told Sloan they were gonna' shop D Will? Makes no sense to lose both.

The hope is probably that there Russian owner can convince D Will they will recruit other superstars to come play along him; it's obvious this owner is trying to build something big.

That doesn't surprise me if so, but then Utah should have an effort to retain Sloan from quitting over a superstar who isn't staying anyways

Lets face it, forget Deron being arguably the best PG in the league, Deron's star power > Harris & Favors skill.

Let's not act like the NBA isn't going to be fucking awful in two-three years.

The Heat, the Knicks, the Lakers will always be relevant (given they get someone, even they could suck), but Dwight leaves the Magic, they suck & he'll likely wind up on one of two teams I named. Celtics will get old & they will suck; same with the Spurs.

If this years Bulls team was in the league four-five years ago, people would say they could be one of the favorites, but now with these these elite teams, they are almost given no chance for winning, even the Magic right now are basically out of the Finals conversations.

You have Deron Williams, you should be in Brooklyn in a few years. That's very attractive especially when the Knicks & Heat won't have room to sign any of these players. If the top fifteen players are going to make up five teams of three each, that means we still need three more elite teams. The Bulls could be one, the Nets could be the other & maybe the Lakers be the third or the Thunder. It's basically going to be an auction to see which of those team I named are going to be one of these "elite teams" that can't be beaten come playoff team by some "regular team".

And this is why the NBA needs a hard cap like the NHL.

It needs to do something before teams like your Raptors are drafting great prospects out of college & losing them because they'd rather play in Chicago because that's their only chance of winning.

If this keeps up, the NBA will lose ten teams in the next ten-fifteen years.

The hard cap would help. But the problem is that NBA players are stars and celebrities more than any other sport in America. They have bigtime endorsements, etc. Even if you could make 2 million more per year to play in Oklahoma than you would get in LA (for example), if youre a star you might still want to go to LA. Im sure these players agents are telling them....go to LA....go to NY....go to Miami! The exposure alone might net them more money than that 2 million per year they would have gotten in Oklahoma. Look at Lamar Odom. You know how many females I know, who dont know SHIT about the NBA...but still know who Lamar fuckin Odom is just cus he dates Kim Kardashians big brother. Its a good career move to go to a bigger market.

I remember when LeBron was a Free Agent it came out that Nike was going to give him 25 million more if he went to a major city; NY, Chicago, LA, Miami.

I hear you on that.  Now hopefully lots of teams can get some payback on them for using Karl Malone to the death on everybody ;D And that they'll be a has been sorry team.  Them down, now the Lakers & Spurs are next in order to be sorry for a very long time for the NBA to be better.

My main comment on this is that looks like Utah said Fuck it, they weren't going to be in the situation that Cleveland & Denver went through.
