What was your favorite era of music from Aftermath? Within every three to four years, it seems the ghost writers would change as well as the producers. My personal favorite era is 1996 - 1999 , but I'm curious as to yours. Also, why? For me, the 1996 - 1999 era seemed very fluid and loose as opposed to post 2001 everything started seeming forced and cramped.

same here, that was the time of 50/stat/bishop. More music came out then from the math...Alot more dope producers were around for those times as oppose to the 99-03 because it was just dre/mel-man/neff-u (focus and hi-tek were there but it seems not till near the end).

Sadly, 1996 - 1999. That label has had so much potential, but I feel like it's always suffered from big label politics.

but yeah...2001 is the best release on the label, period. so that group of years.

99 to 03 easily! running it back then.

I would say since 2001 dropped to The Documentary era, so 1999-2005, but if I had to pick from that list, then 2003-2007, the 50 Cent/G-Unit/Shady/Eminem.5 era, mostly because thats when I really started getting into rap and Aftermath was on everthing hot those days. Come to think about it, they really haven't been active at ALL since '06.

From 2001 to The Documentary are my favourite years, early G Unit was my shit, Big Bang was also a really dope album I thought

99-03 was their peak. From the slim shady lp all the way the introduction of g unit.....i guess you can say eminem is the one who dominated more than anyone

1999-2003, Can't ignore all the heat that came in those years, MMLP, 2001, SSLP, The Wash, The Eminem Show, GRODT, and I also liked ''Addictive'' truth hurts' first single. shit was dope.
But i gotta say, 03-07 deserves a mention as well, The Documentary killed it, and I personally enjoyed Busta's album as well..

You're talking about the potential of a label. A label is a business. If we're talking about music... Dre has worked with all these artists so the music has been made. From your comment, my assumption is you're arguing that the label had potential to put out more hit records or at the very least quality releases. I don't feel the label has suffered. The only big hit album I think they missed out on was the N.W.A. reunion project and that had more to do with Dre's disinterest in the project as it moved on than any "label politics". Fans are upset because they are looking at these projects from the perspective that they didn't get to hear them. For instance, I think Busta Rhymes' "Big Bang" was a great album. Lots of that great Dre sound we all love. However, it's not really remembered that way. If it never got released, people might hear some songs and go, "Damn! This shit would have been a fucking hit if it came out". But nobody knows. The point is it ain't the Aftermath label that is suffering from politics as much as its the fans but that's always the case when you're dealing with majors. It's a gift and a curse.
