we all know his last album was horrible disgusting trash, it had no direction to it at all... its a shame none of these wc legends are trying to put him back on...him and cube should hook up or mack 10 should try and put him on hoobangin or someshit.
he sounded uninspired on his last album maybe he just dont have his heart in it no more.
any one got ren news?
-
he should do a duet track with Dre on Detox, but Dre sooner to put Beiber on Detox then any west nigga other then Snoop
-
dude must be broke if he put out an album with that low production values. If he can't get his own shit together why would others fuck with him?

MC Ren had the talent to blow up on the solo tip like Cube and Dre but he made the mistake with sticking with Eazy

You said yourself, his last album was trash and he had no direction. Today we've got myspace rappers who can put out amazing albums on shoestring budgets. Lol @ expecting Dre to save a nigga who can't do anything dope by himself
-
no that was directed at my bitter ex lover that posted earlier in the thread...u are right.

He could've capitalized off the NWA reunion movement.

mistake? he had the right platform, i don't think other labels were fighting to sign him
-
really want a new album...
or some feat less...
-
i would just be happy to hear him on anything with some direction and some decent production/mixing behind him.
-
Another album would be a bad idea. He doesn't have any direction, and his whole style of pure hardcore raps is pretty played out imo. He hasn't been able to evolve his style like Cube or Dre. If anything I'd prefer to hear him on features with them, but that shit ain't gonna happen so might as well forget about it.
-
i like the idea of him going to Hoo Bangin with Mack 10. hes already got a few wc legends on his roster, ren would be a nice addition

sounds good.
-
i dont know man ren sounded pretty good on snoops last meal...when your voice is that commanding a little direction and inspiration with a guy like that could go along way.
-
Ren was fierce on Last Meal, Hello, that shit from that era...
Dude can def still spit, would like to hear a legit release.
-
now she's in a coffin and my life is better often.
-
the black nigga that they call ren...you fuck with me you gotta fuck with a mack 10
-
i honestly think its because Ren really just doesnt care
srs

same here.
i think somewhere along the line it stopped being fun. i hope eazy cut him back in on the royalties jerry heller fucked him over with...from what i understood ren and eazy stayed tight.
-
He has unreleased songs from the scrapped Life Sentence album, but Ruthless is dead.

btw how were his rhymes on his last album? I didn't even check it out, because the quality was horrible.
-
the writing was on par with anything else but his delivery left alot to be desired imo
shit sounded real uninspired.

the vocals sound messed up, bad equipment i guess

I think that's the whole difference between Dre & Cube when they went solo & Ren. Not the lyrics or flow delivery, but the instrumentals! They just don't compare! Just like the entire Death Row sound vs Ruthless sound at the same time... Can you imagine the vocals of Ren's solo songs over any DR-produced beat? For a whole album? It'd have gone multi-platinum! No fucken doubt!
I also agree Ren must have counted on the NWA reunion (the featurings, the Up in Smoke Tour, & unfortunately the album that never happened), hell, the dvd as great as it was, was missing even as short as a 15mn (I even say 30mn) NWA 2001 live section!
After that, I think I recall Ren said he only wanted to stay independant, that he wanted nothing to do with a major. He did a cd-single independant, he did his "movie" independant, & his online album independant... Thing is he don't master the independant game like, say, Daz does. Or even how the DOC did his album. THAT would have been a good move for him! Working with another OG like him with whom he has great history!
The most recent featuring I can think of is with Tha Chill "Have dat Money Rite", good track, good video.
Hell The Game outta have mad features with Ren shouting NWA as he does...

If making horrible faux southern music like cube is evolving no wonder hip hop is considered dead. And how has dre evolved he's still rapping about the same exact shit

Ren was in a tough position. Eazy was the company. Dre was the music. Cube was the superstar. Cube could afford to leave because he wasn't being paid what he was worth and Priority knew they could offer him what he wanted and they made a killing. Dre's deal was tougher because he actually signed a deal with Ruthless but his name had become so much more valuable than what his contract was that Suge and Interscope figured they'd take the L, make the money, and give Eric points on the deal. Ren not only didn't have the value as a solo act but you'd have to figure at that point that Eric was never going to let him get out of that deal. Furthermore from what I understand, he was creatively stuck because as he's explained, he really wasn't interested in Eazy's creative direction at the time. He didn't want to be a part of the anti-Death Row thing that Eazy was doing and he was publicly vocal about not wanting to do an N.W.A. record without everyone included. I believe him and Eazy actually were down-low complaining about it in that Fab 5 Freddy MTV interview way back when. Then Eazy died and it was even harder for him to deal with Ruthless. By the time, he was fully free and ready to go on his own, Dre and Cube had so much on their plates that they just didn't need it like Ren did.

He's not dissin' Dre, title is misleading.

was just listening. album is sick. imo none of his albums have had incredible production. some songs do, but reincarrnated is about on par with the villain in black i'd say.

ren should flip it

on some sample based soundclick beats
he might need a ghostwriter tho
i'll ghostwrite for ren
i'm the best rapper on this site
-

Yup. That's the one. Eazy and Ren are visibly not on the same page there. It's funny that they say Ren "disses" him too because when Eazy talks about Dre, Ren's head is tilting down like he wants no part of it. Then when Ren says he'll do it if "everyone" comes together.
-
i have villan in black on cassette tape
same lol gonna sell it on ebay soon hopefully along with some other tapes I got
-
"Shootin The Shit A Lil Bit" was tight as fuck. Quality of the whole album was mad shitty though.
-
bumpin villan in black w the beats headphones shit sounds like a whole different album...keep in mind the last time i heard this was on cassette probably in my sony walkman at that.

Yeah, it's funny people shit on beats oh it's just a name blah blah, but thier the same people living with thier parents too broke to afford them. Best headphones I've ever owned, every album is a new listening experience with them

was only a mistake because Eazy got Aids and he was stuck on ruthless after E died, i dont think at the time he knew his homie was gonna die.

as far as i know he chose to do one more album there. he regrets it now though
-
First time I listened to Renincarnation and it doesn't compare to his other albums but it was good to hear Ren spit again.
I agree the production and mixing are quite poor though

Cube only fell off in recent years though. Look at his whole his career and you can see how his style has evolved. From the nigga you love to hate, to west side connection, to the don mega. He managed to stay relevant for so long that now it doesn't matter whether he drops another album. His legacy is set.
Dre evolved as a producer with his sound and managed to stay relevant. He's not really a rapper. The guy made 2 albums in a 20 year span, both carried by their production and the other artists involved. He's maintained his relevance by working with rappers, not by being one.

fuc yeah man eveyone listen to that shit, that is what ren is capable of on the solo independant game and that is what we should expect. he can still make dope shit.
-
He should do features. I'm sure there's a ton of young artist who would love to be stamped by the villain. Matter of fact I remember someone (wc I think) saying gmalone or bishop was asking him to get him a ren feature but ren said he aint fuckin with these young niggas lol

I wish he'd do more features. When he was featured on last meal and space boogie , his vocals over those beats stood out in an amazing way.
