So, it occurred to me recently: Battlecat is responsible for at least 2 of the best West Coast songs ever recorded, that being E-40 f/ Nate - Nah Nah and Kurupt - We Can Freak It.
What are some of Battlecat's other best productions? I need to step up my Battlecat game.
-
i wouldn't label them "best westcoast songs ever recorded", esp. Nah Nah. but yeah those songs were fire. Battlecat blessed us with other mainstream westcoast hits from the same time frame : Lucy Pearl's You, Tha Eastsidaz's G'd Up & I Luv It, Tyrese's Just A Baby Boy. The late 90's early 2000's were really his heyday commercially wise.
There's too much good Battlecat stuff out to tell which or which song is better than the other so i'll just mention some of his productions that are classic to me.
Crips - Steady Dippin
Domino - Self Titled (the whole album)
Po Broke N Lonely - Three Honeys
I Smooth 7 - Coolin N The Ghetto
WC - Hog/Tears of a Clown (matter of fact every wc/battlecat collabo is a hit to me)
Kam - Trust Nobody
Dazzie dee - Knee Deep
Snoop - Feels So Good (with the eastsiders, from ride ost)
and the list goes on
you might want to check this list, however inaccurate and incomplete it might be
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlecat_production_discography
etc. etc.

God damn I hella forgot about Faithfully. Since you don't hear about Cat that much anymore it's easy to forgot how many hits he produced. Same could be said for Nate Dogg and hooks.

My top 3 favourite Battlecat beats are:
1. Eastsidaz - G'd Up
2. Kurupt - We Can Freak It
3. DPG - Cali Iz Active
Honourable mention goes to Kam - Don't Trust Nobody, and also this:

I have no idea whether or not this has made it on to anything, but it sounds like a great BC beat!
