FAIL means musically critics wont call it a solid album.... and sales would be poor compared to the promotion put on the album...fans wont call it classic... these kind of things
SUCCESS would be musically up to a good standard like 2001 n Chronic....sales good....ppl calling it classic after few years ..like 2001....
-
I wonder if "Detox" will have Gucci Mane on it
-
It's already failed.
-
from the tracks i have heard to date, im far from convinced it will even be a decent album
-
From a sales point of view it will FAIL compared to The Chronic and 2001, but SUCCEED compared to most other releases. There's no way that Detox won't go platinum if it is ever released and VERY few acts go platinum these days.
From a critical point of view it can really only FAIL. Expectations are too high. I would be very surprised if it isn't at least a good album, but I would also be surprised if it is a classic.

I haven't even heard one decent single so far so I say FAIL !!! Dre and Swizz...wtf !! chronic was instant classic, 2001 was classic after singles like "forgot about Dre" and "still Dre" took off...but these new singles are like a cry for help to the commercial fans and it still ain't happening. I wish dude the best though...I love the westcoast

c/s. "Chillin" is ight but the world doesn't wanna hear that from Dr. Dre. The world wants to hear something smooth and something criminal. Dr. Dre will fail completely if he's banking on taking the illusioned "safe route".

It's already success.

becuz man nobody really cares to hear Dr. Dre be all uptempo and modern and shit like that, i mean we do but we don't (Ask yourself if u dont believe me). i mean now we're a little more adjusted to hearing Dr. Dre go towards a different route but ask anybody, it's not really that hot. They honestly just look like sad attempts to go mainstream and it's not really working for Dre like he obviously think it is (with him keep going in this "My Prescription" direction).
"detox" should be smooth and groovy. it should be a little menacing and a little uptempo (like on some new shit). it should be slick but it should be hard, like "Phone Tap". i don't really have a problem with the vocals, i don't really see what the big deal is even tho i have 2 admittedly point out all of that hypeness isn't really crackin'.
like when you're high and when you're drunk do you feel these records... i don't think so. and when you're sober does it sound better, yes and no. yes becuz shit is a little more clear and no becuz the records just don't bang like that. i'm hearing records like "h.a.m" and i'm thinking how come Dr. Dre's shit isn't at least this crazy at the minimum.

it will fail to hip hop fans...
it will succeed to your average joe who listens to pop/rock on the radio everyday...
-
even some of the most wiggerish stans on here have given up on detox after all these crappy songs
-
DETOX = Dre's mid-life crisis

yup

DETOX = Dre's mid-life crisis
Well said. +1

would like 2 see it succeed, so thats what i voted for.

Alot of negativity but in a way I understand cause the only problem I have with Dre is the amount of time it has taken to complete and release the CD. I think a couple of years ago, it may have done 5 to 6 million..Now, if it's really dope and I think it will be, I think it will do 3 maybe 4...Just the fact that we are talkin about dude as he just turned 46 is amazing to me and I'm sure he won't disappoint with Detox.

another detox thread? give it up niggas

Why does everyone hate On kush so much? Peoples expectations are ridiculous. The album will be a commercial success, it's already got dres second biggest single ever, who knows critically.

Whether you like the shit or not, numbers don't lie. It's already sold a milli, and peaked at number 4 on billboard, shit it may actually be bigger than "Keep Their Heads Ringing"
-
I SAY IT WILL BE A SUCCESS
BUNCH OF MOTHUFUCKAZ N CRITICS DOUBTED DRE DURING 90s bout DREs SECOND ALBUM
dr dre acts like a bitch but he got the ears to know whats dope or wack
-
It'll succeed....we dont know what the final product will be or whether or not any of the released tracks will be on the album

yeah this should be locked

Dres been in the lab for so long, he forgot who his fanbase is, and what it wants.
We want that laid back bass bangin gangsta shit, instead he's trying to appeal to the 14yo highschool girls.. shits gonna flop so hard. I need a doctor has to be one of the gayest songs ever, 2 grown men talking about how much they love each other and whatever, please man.
Im betting RED will be better than detox.
-
I need to hear the whole shit but first impression I have to say I'm disappointed.

It's gonna be a fail for many.

It's gonna be a fail for many.
Maybe when they first hear it because the expectations are so huge but we'll see how it reasonates in the long term. As weird as it sounds, I think if Dre really wants to create something new with Detox, it has to sort of let people down at first.
-
I thought a "Fail" for sure at first when I heard "Kush" (not a bad look, sounds better speeded up but nothin to the level of a Detox single) and "I need a doctor" (terrible track). Now after hearing "Chillin" with Swizz Beatz and "Mr Prescription" I am thinkin this thing could def sell if he does the whole album like those new tracks that just leaked. He is definitely on the right path and figuring it out. If uses modern beats like "Chillin" and "Mr Prescription" with modern techno/club beats and works with the right producers like he did with Swizz it will def sell. He's finally workin with the right people. If he gets Wayne, Drake, Ross, David Guetta, Pharrell, Cool and Dre, Scott Storch in any combination of those he's finally on the right track and workin with the heavy hitters in the game, they will sell the album for him with that modernized flow he uses on those tracks that shit sounds dope. So my answer: No at first, but now "Yes" if he keeps makin tracks like "Chillin" and "Mr Prescription."
