Title: Shook Ones pt II - how the bassline was created
Post by: k1000 on April 07, 2011, 05:18:36 AM
15 later, how Havoc created "Shook Ones pt II"'s bassline :

Quote from: losangelestimes
... “Jessica,” a 1969 recording by Herbie Hancock. It turns out that Mobb Deep rapper-producer Havoc took a piano melody from the song and slowed it down at two different pitches to create a two-bar loop more reminiscent of a bass guitar than keyboard.

It's weird after hearing the original sample, the song sounds different to me now lol  I used to hear it as a guitar, but now I hear piano.

lol... i told y'all i used 2 be like those Euros on here when I was little (you HAD TO take sides back then).  and u know damn well Eminem ain't make me like Mobb Deep.  Truth be told a "friend" of mines from back in tha day let me borrow a rack of his father's cd's and "The Infamous" and "Hell On Earth" were two of them I picked up (by mistake lol).  I had played "The Infamous" 1st in rotation and then I said "fuck it i'll try "Hell On Earth"" and I fuckd wit it and then I thought about it and was like "this ain't my beef lol" and I've been fuckin' wit Mobb Deep ever since... all of this shit was waaaay back in like 00'/01' which is funny becuz "Murda Muzik" had came out around that time and I hated whenever they played that song they did with Nas.  I guess time changes everybody...
