He's just said that on twitter 5 minutes ago... deleted now ::)
-
He mixed the whole album and produced like 4 songs...that's the most anyone (not named marshall) can expect out of dre these days
-
& I say Detox "should've" already been released. But that word holds no weight.
-
He gave jay a cd full of beats didn't he? Theres still some dope joints on that album, the title track is straight

Yeah. I heard he gave Jay MAD beats & Jay only picked four of them.
That's the ego of Jay-Z; considering nobody was saying Dre "fell off" back when that album came out. He was still on that "OH SHIT, DRE PRODUCED THIS?" kinda rep.

"Kingdom Come" should have it's own appreciation thread. That album was really ill.
I'm just too lazy to make it lol.
-
And too add to this thread....around the time Kingdom Come dropped...Dre was starting to have doubts about Detox...so he gave most of the beats to other artists...them 4 beats he gave Jay-z for Kingdom Come were on point.....Dre shoulda dropped Detox a month later imo. He had just did 50 album...Games album...Kingdom Come was the icing on the cake....had we heard Detox back then, I know none of us would have been dissapointed at all. Dre was on a roll. He should have took his chances 8)

So did Dawaun Parker mean Dre had an album worth of finished tracks with verses too and he just gave the lot away!
-
I don't know average CD is like 80mins...unless Dre gave him a DVD....imo he probably gave Jay-z a CD worth of beats....most likely 18 beats

Tooken from entertainment weekly website:
''It's more in the vein of The Black Album than The Blueprint,'' he says. ''I've been experimenting with things, different types of music.'' In addition to Timbaland, Jay-Z has called on the production skills of Kanye West and Dr. Dre. He also hopes to reteam with Rick Rubin. ''Oh, and actually, Chris Martin produced a track on there,'' he adds casually. Yes, Coldplay's Chris Martin. ''We met at a charity dinner and just really kept in touch. He sent me these beautiful chords for this song called 'Beach Chair.' I had Dre put some drums on it. It's really, really incredible.''
I didn't know Dre did the drums on Beach Chair?

yep, before Dre lost confidence in himself
-
ain't that the same time around the death of his son?

Data CD, most likely.
-
floppy disc
-
"I Made It" was on some Detox level ish.
-
I think the mix of Dre/Just Blaze beats was dope. When it dropped i was surprised at how involved Dre was. Album is dope imo.
-
Yeah this was a dope album
We owe jay-z a thank you card. His "30 something" remix gave us the first ice cube / dr dre collabo in almost 10 years (even if it was a mediocre remix)
-
kingdom come was shit.. had 3 or 4 good songs.. and the dre beats were beneath average!.. that shit + the shit hes been releasing for detox, makes dre a shadow of his former self..
i remember seeing this review: "He's grown up, alright. With the energy Jay brings to most of these tracks, you'd think 30 was the new 60".. which pretty much sums up jay z's music for the past 6 years..

i'm sure some would be disappointed, as there is always something to bitch aboutTooken from entertainment weekly website:

yeah i think he did. i'm sure it's listed in the credits
ain't that the same time around the death of his son?
no that was in 2008

Album was very weak imo ... lyrics wise Jay had pretty nothing much to say besides " the King is back" , "I'm hip hop savior", the "MJ of Hip hop" , his flow was poor aswell , Dre beats were nothing special ... and Dre mixing didn't prevent some of Just Blaazy beats to sound terrible when you play them loud in good system

lost ones? minority report? beach chairs? you listening right?
-
Jay showing off on his albums bothers a lot of people but I don't mind. Atleast we know he actually has the shit he brags about unlike all these new dudes who pop up rapping about bentleys and poppin bottles like they're boss
But look at a song like kingdom come where he ended all 3 verses with superhero references or trouble where he cleverly is saying 'you can take the boy out the hood but...' shits dope
Lost ones and trouble are the best dre beats on the album. Is it me or did ne-yo kill jay on minority report? Lol dead serious tho
-
the intro to kingdom come was ill...he shit on game hard.
-
I still love that bass line on 30 something like nothing else ...
that bass was sort of the last remnant of the 2001 sound

Ne-Yo was getting his Mary J on on that track. Trouble was dope, I always saw it as Dres impression of a Timbaland style beat for some reason, they shoulda dropped that for the clubs. "Lose Ones" is my shit though
