You know him as Compton's future aka the Good Kid in a Bad City aka K.Dot, but he's best known as Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick has witnessed a fantastic past year, transitioning from "promosing up and comer" to being "next up to bat"!
His unique style and delivery, which combines street lyricsm with eclectic poetry has made him a fan favorite all across the board. After his critically acclaimed album O(verly) D(edicated) last summer, we have been patiently waiting for a new release from the Top Dawg Ent artist.
After the other TDE artists, Jay Rock, Schoolboy Q and Ab-Soul all recently dropped their latest projects, Kendrick announced his upcoming solo album "Section.80", set to drop later this year.
The official first single was released moments ago on iTunes via Top Dawg Ent/EMPIRE Distribution, it's called "HiiiPoWeR" was produced by none other than J. Cole, with whom Kendrick is also said to be doing a full project (more news on that soon).
For now, make sure to listen to "HiiiPoWeR" below and SUPPORT Kendrick Lamar by copping the single on iTunes (http://www.dubcnn.com/index2.shtml):
Kendrick Lamar - HiiiPoWeR (Prod. by J.Cole) (http://www.dubcnn.com/media/audio/kendricklamar-hiiipower)
Again, if you like what you hear, cop the song on iTunes and show TDE some love on their Official Website.

-
kanye west called & said give me my style back
Even jacked Kanye lines in this song.
-
i actually like this song but find it hard to listen to. it just makes me respect kanye west more for having this huge influence over other artist and i do think this is just a respect thing like they, lamarr & j.cole, really like Kanye's art and decide to try it out/mimic/reproduce material similar to it themselves.

To be honest, out of the five people who sell albums; Eminem, Jay-Z, Kanye, Lil' Wayne & Drake, Kanye is the easiest to imitate.
Not to take away from Kanye, but the other four have a signature sound that would be more obvious a swaggerjack. Like Hopsin was clearly influenced by Eminem & he got called out in real fast. Even when Drake first came up, people were like "He's just jackin' Wayne's flow". But since Wayne co-signed him & took him in on his label, he got the pass. I'm sure if Drake was signed somewhere else & wasn't associated with Wayne, people would still hate on that more than anything.
Kanye has a signature voice, but you can jack his style & still get away with it. Most fans wouldn't be able to catch on the Kanye style here, unless they were big Hip Hop fans.

I'm loving the song, thanks.
-
definitely sounds like some kanye shit, but this is dope. Good looks for kendrick
"who said a black man in an illuminati
last time i checked that was the biggest racist party
last time i checked we was racing with marcus garvey
on the freeway to africa till i wreck my audi
and i want everybody to view my autopsy
so you could see exactly where the government had shot me"
^kanye all the way, that whole last verse even the voice distortions. Liking this alot though

Really? I feel like Kanye has the uniquest style out of the 5 you mentioned.
Everybody put 3 fingers in the air. The sky is falling, the wind is calling, stand for something or die in the morning. Section 80. High Power.
Visions of Martin Luther staring at me.
Malcolm X put a hex on my future, someone catch me.
I'm falling victim to a revolutionary song, that Serengeti's clone
Back to put you backstabbers back on your spinal bone
you slipped your disc when I slit you my diss, you wanted to diss but jumped on my dick
Grown men should never bite they tongue unless you eating pussy that smells like it's a stale plum
I got my finger on the motherfucking pistol, aiming it at a pig; Charlotte's web is going to miss you.
My issue isn't televising. You ain't got to tell the wise how to stay on beat because our life is an instrumental.
This is physical and mental, I won't sugar coat it. You'll die from diabetes if these other niggas wrote it.
And, everything on TV is just a figment of imagination. I don't want a plastic nation, dread that like a Haitan.
While you motherfuckers waiting, I'll be off the slave ship, building pyramids, writing my own hieroglyphics.
Just call this shit high power. Nigga, nothing less than high power.
5 star dishes, food for thought, bitches. I mean this shit is Huey Newton going stupid.
You can't resist this high power. Throw your hands up for high power.
Visions of Martin Luther staring at me.
If I see it how he seen it that would make my parents happy.
Sorry, Momma, I can't turn the other cheek. They want to knock me off the edge like a fucking widows peak (Uggh!)
And, she always told me to pray for the weak. (Uggh!)
Them demons got me, I ain't pray in some weeks (Uggh!)
Dear Lord, come save me. The Devil's working hard. He probably clocking double shifts on all of his jobs.
FRIGHTENING! So fucking FRIGHTENING!
Enough to drive a man insane, I need a license to kill.
I'm standing on a field full of landmines doing the moon walk, hoping I blow up in time.
Cause 2012 might not be a fucking legend.
Trying to be a fucking legend, the man of mankind.
Who said a black man in the Illuminati?
The last time I checked that was the biggest racist party.
So get up off the salve ship, build your own pyramids, write your own hieroglyphs.
Just call this shit high power. Nigga, nothing less than high power.
5 star dishes, food for thought, bitches. I mean this shit is Bobby Seale making meals.
You can't resist this high power. Throw your hands up for high power.
Every day we fight the system just to make our way.
We've been down for too long but that's all right.
We were built to be strong cause this is our life.
Every day we fight the system, we fight the system, we fight the system. (Never liked the system!)
We been down for too long but that's all right.
Who said a black man in the Illuminati?
Last time I checked that was the biggest racist party.
Last time I checked we was racing with Marcus Gravy on a freeway to Africa until I wrecked my Audi.
And, I want everybody to view my autopsy so you can see exactly where the government shot me.
No conspiracy, my fate is inevitable. They played musical chairs once I'm on the pedestal.
Frightening! So fucking frightening!
Enough to drive a man insane or woman insane.
The reason why Lauryn Hill don't sing or Kurt Cobain loaded that clip and then said "bang!"
The drama it brings is crazy. Product of the late 80s, trying to stay above water.
That's why we shun the Navy. Pull your guns and play me. Let's set it off.
Cause I riot, throw a Molotov. Somebody told me the pirates head got lost.
Cause we been through slave ships, got our own pyramids, write our hieroglyphics.
Just call this shit high power. Nigga, nothing less than high power.
5 star dishes, food for thought, bitches. I mean this shit is Fred Hampton on your campus
You can't resist this high power. Throw your hands up for high power.
THUG LIFE! THUG LIFE!

In that case shouldn't it be four people then? Plus I doubt Drake's able to sell as much as he did when he first came up now...
As for the song it's dope, but IMO it's only because J. Cole produced it.

I'm loving the song, thanks.

That's crazy. Remember when game first introduced us to those 3 (jay rock, dubb, and k.dot) it seemed like dubb and jay rock would be bigger. Now k.dot...excuse me - kendrick lamar is blowin up, workin on detox and shit. Jay rock decided to diss everyone and has been another overly-delayed (pun intended) new west artist set to disappear. And speaking of disappear...where is dubb? Lol.
Props to dude tho. I just hope he breaks the new west curse.
-
this track is fuckin rad props for the link nima 8)

kanye west called & said give me my style back

what is the kanye style? ???
It's hard to explain. I guess you just have to know what you're talking about to understand it. Guess that explains this situation.

If you can't explain it, I think it really doesn't exist. I feel like there's this "type of rap" that gets credited to Kanye even though he didn't come up with it. Unless there's a specific flow-pattern he's stealing or another example you can give, I don't see it.
-
^Listen to the chorus.
-
Obviously heavily Kanye/Pusha influenced but as long as it sound dope who really cares...and this is great.
-
The song/vibe sounds like it's from NY
-
Dope. What happened to the kendrick/j.cole mixtape

It is a single from one of the most promising artist on the West right? I was expecting another over-synthesized wack song. But this is really nice! Good work!
-
Just copped off Itunes, really looking forward to Kendricks album, Top Dogg drop nothing but heat!
-
What happened to the kendrick/j.cole mixtape
It's still on the table. So far Temptation is the only official song from it, it hasn't even leaked yet though.
