I saw this flim for the first time yesterday, and it is prehaps the strangest flim I have ever seen. The whole thing is just weird, and the plot was all over the place. I know people see it as a classic, but for me it is way too fucked up to be a classic. However it is funny as hell in some places especially the bit where he says:
"We came across Billy Boy and his mates, doing a bit of the old in,out,in,out"
What did anyone else on here think about this flim when they saw it.

HAHAHAHAHA, classic shit right here man, Stanley Kubrick at his best. The OL' In Out In Out line is funny as fuk!! Even the damn theme song is wicked, that nigga Cage flipped it on that one track if yall into that underground Cage shit. But ya, Clockwork Orange is not for everyone, but it is definitely one of my all time favorite flicks that I have in my library, any Kubrick fan would appreciate it.

To be honest? I think Kubrick was a fruit, and that movie sucks. I saw it several times, and didn't see anything intelligent about it. It was just your typical arty bullsh*t. I call it Missy Elliott/Busta Rhymes syndrome. Just because it's different, don't make it classic, or 'art'. Missy & Busta got some great stuff, but most of their crap is just weird, and that's not always a good thing.
A good example of a weird movie that's artsy is Pulp Fiction. Pulp Fiction was all shock value and weird, different, etc. Trick shots, camera tricks, all that, but it was done great. Clockwork Orange was a waste of film, in my opinion. Peace~

there are a lot of movies like that, many people seem to like them and often see some kind of secondary plot. I have never been one to see that kinda shit,

Like I said, this movie is not for everyone. The movie is still considered a classic regardless of negative opinion period!!

UMM I just read the book, never got the chance to watch the movie but the story was cool, even though wierd. I liked the shit tho, that ALex foo was a punk...he got dealt with...KARMA baby
-
i seen this - im a pretty big kubrick fan (loved dr. strangelove, full metal jacket - hated eyes wide shut) i really enjoyed a clockwork orange - it really made strong social commentary about free will and punishments for crime - even though some may find it sick and disturbing the singing in the rain scene is a classic and the sorta scene that stays with u along time.

Whats it about?

Some Sicko who was given a camera and told to shoot shocking stuff. LOL. It's on the level of MTV: Jackass, but isn't funny.
-
I agree with Trauma, I have seen the film and it is nothing less than shite IMO. Just a boring film.

Alex, a teenage hooligan in a near-future Britain, gets jailed by the police. There he volunteers as guinea pig for a new aversion therapy proposed by the government to make room in prisons for political prisoners. "Cured" of his hooliganism and released, he is rejected by his friends and relatives. Eventually nearly dying, he becomes a major embarrassment for the government, who arrange to cure him of his cure. A pivotal moment is when he and his gang break into an author's home: the book he is writing (called "A Clockwork Orange") is a plea against the use of aversion therapy, on the grounds that it turns people into Clockwork Oranges (Ourang is Malay for "Man"): they are not being good from choice. The film reflects this: many bad scenes in a Clockwork Orange are accompanied by jolly music; if we are to experience them as we should, we have to do it consciously, by realising they are bad, and not because the director tells us so through the use of music and images.

its quite a good movie if ur smart enough to see past some of the disturbing material and understand what the film is saying.
the movie is practically saying we cant rob people of free will, its inhumane to make someone into a machine - its quite an interesting piece of work - people just need to do some thinkin and understand what its all about and understand the techniques the director uses

Imma go rent it right now ;D

That shit sums it up, classic film!!
-
Yes it's a fucked up film but the whole shock value of it came from when it was released back in the 70's, when I rented it a few years back my mum was saying it was fucked up and some scary shit, when I watched it I thought it was alright but not what I'd expected seeing as it had been banned throughout my life.
And Kubrick's best film was Dr Strangelove.
-
I haven't seen the movie but I keep meaning to get it. I know the story and from what I'm told it's a very interesting book/movie. I believe there's an underlying social message to the movie which will go over most people's heads, but I can't say much more until I see it.
This was banned when it was first released right? At least in the UK I think.

yeah it was banned because shortly after its release some copycat crimes followed mirroring the crimes in the movie so kubrick had the movie banned from being released again at cinema or on video until after his death. kubrick died a few years ago (may he rest in peace) so now the movie is available on video. i think it was banned in alot of nations but im sure it wasnt in some
-
Hmm... that may have been the story in england, but I know it was easily available in the u.s. in the early 90's, and Kubrick didn't die until just a couple years ago. Peace~

dope book, dope movie, its has kubrik written all over it, hes nuts, and i love it, its one of those movies that if you cant look past the sadistic shit and see the point, then youll just miss it all, the directing is nuts, and the colors/patterns are rediculous
-
i love this movie. if u cant see the reason behind the nature of this film then go back to watching ur disney movies! cuz this a whole new world.
