There's only one week between this performance & the one at Lopez Tonight yet this one is just The Game with DJ Kris Stylez on the turntables whereas the Lopez Tonight one was with live band (Skee-Tox & DJ Skee). From thereon, it's a matter of taste if you prefer rapping over a record like in the old days or with live instrumentation which is more "rock-like".

even though this song still hasn't blown up and it isn't going to since it's only getting older, still good to see Game in promo mode

Yup and I would pick this type of live performance any day. Live bands at hip-hop performances are the worst mix ever. Shit is not right.

I'd say it depends on the artists too & on which occasions. Sometimes the rawer the better, but there are instances where I been positively surprised! (Not with Skee-Tox I must admit!) But did you check the live footage I posted at the Fuel Room for Clubbin'TV with DJ Quik & even more so with Ice Cube? Even have some rehearsal footage & it came out really good, different from the studio versions, but very good!

Yeah I did and that Rep That West joint came out pretty dope that way. Should have kept it even more simple than what is on the album instead of those weird strings or whatever it is on the hooks.
