Title: So I finally listened to Gift Of Gab - Escape to mars

I actually wasted my money on this trash.I remember a few people saying he was good and I saw it at the cd store so I was like fuck it it was only ten bucks.Threw it in and Im subjected to trash like this

Seriously?It sounds like right said fred rapping over a beat made from a 14 year old german on fruity loops.

I lent it to a few friends thinking maybe its just me.I didnt saying anything to them,just said I thought theyd like it.All came back with the same response.Dont waste my time with that bullshit ever again.

The beats are all trash.I enjoyed one song.One.The rest I couldnt hit the skip button fast enough.His voice is monotone and boring,with basically the same flow on evry song.Even if he said something great you wouldnt even notice.

HAHA Serio? I understand what you mean but the guy can rap. Its just a different style. "4th dimensional rocketships" is considered his best solo. Maybe you should have started with that one.

I havent heard his solo stuff though so i can't comment on that.

Yeah, you picked the wrong stuff unfortunately...

His stuff as part of the group Blackalicous is incredible MCing
Best stuff to me was their EPs Melodica and A2G, but Nia is dope, and Blazing Arrow is pretty dope in parts too (track named 'Chemical Calisthenics' on that is incredible)

The Blackalicious albums after that and his solos fell off a bit... beats became weaker and he started doing this flow which is like the same thing over and over,
which is a shame because he had such a crazy unpredictable flow on the earlier stuff

Eah eventually I'll check out other stuff he's done. It's not fair to judge a mans career by one extremely wack album. That would be like judging snoops career on the last ten years and ignoring when he could actually record listenable music

Ain't heard this, but his stuff in The Mighty Underdogs is amazing.
