PREMIERE: Shade Sheist Releases "The 199MiX" Of "Queen" - By : Rud - July 5, 2011
(http://www.dubcnm.com/cdcovers/shade_sheist-queen-sm.jpg)
In late May we gave you the headsup that Shade Sheist is working on his new album entitled "P.N.L.A: The Exit Strategy" that is due for release later this year. Between Twitter and his Official Site he has been promoting the new single we dropped in that last update, the single Queen featuring the incredible vocals of LaToiya Williams.
Today we are back with another EXCLUSIVE WORLD PREMIERE right here on Dubcnn with the remix of Queen which is called "The 199MiX." We asked Shade Sheist about the remix and he told us; "[With this] I'm takin it back to when cats like Paperboy ("Ditty") were the 'IN' sound."
The track, which is an entirely replayed instrumental track created with the equipment most commonly used in the 1990's, also features completely re-recorded vocals from Shade Sheist so he could virtually match them seamlessly with the original version of the record. This is also a 90's recording method which was particularly common when recording radio versions of records.
This version of the record will be found on the Special Edition "Queen" single releasing at the end of the month but we have it for you right now, check it below.
Shade Sheist - Queen (The 199MiX) Feat. LaToiya Williams) (Audio)
"P.N.L.A: The Exit Strategy" is still due later this year and Shade plans on dropping another new single from it before Summer ends. Expect "P.N.L.A: The Exit Strategy" to feature collaborations with N.U.N.E., Roscoe, Techniec, TQ and Mr. Criminal and more. Drop some feedback on our forums and follow both Shade Sheist and LaToiya Williams on Twitter.

What a great song! :)
This guy is probably one of the very few West Coast rappers that stays true to his own personal favorite sound.

..which is likely the reason "Queen" is currently my
#2 Selling Song on iTunes underneath "Where I Wanna Be" ;D

LaToiya blessed that hook. Voice of an angel, no doubt.

Realy dope song,
and that straight west coast remix with Knoc turn al is 1 of my favorite tracks of all time!!!
-
Yeah you definitely did your job on this one. Can't wait to hear what you guys cooked with Buth Cassidy, and still hoping you can have big Nate on your record. Shade you gotta do it (daddy V's voice).

i really appreciate hearing both mixes. i'm a sucker for that analogue sound for sure. the claps really sound like some battlecat shit on the '99 mix. i think it's really rare for an artist to have a song mixed both ways, let alone to share both mixes with the fans. good looks, shade! can't wait to hear the rest of the album. oh yeah, and latoiya is so talented it's just simply ridiculous!

I knew there would be folx out there that would appreciate the vintage version..
I mean, most of my peers were created from this sound, but transitioned when ProTools got popular..
Me.. I haven't quite been able to shake that analog bug yet..
Recording in the 90's houses some of my best memories.. 8)

i feel you shade. i can only imagine what it was like in the west's hey-day, recording in gorgeous studios with ssl boards, loads of outboard gear and everyone on the album was in the same studio at some poiint. glad there are still artists out there that appreciate analogue sound and take in interest in the whole recording process. thanks for the share man. def one of my summer bangers this year fa sho!!!
