Title: so i put Balance & Options ahead of Safe & Sound atm
Post by: Matty on July 07, 2011, 08:05:21 AM
this might be blasphemous to a lot of Quik fans. definitely have it as my 2nd fave Quik album right now. #1 should be obvious...clue - it's not Quik Is The Name ;D

Safe & Sound would come in at #3. seems more dated than B&O, but a close call. it's got mad funk and classic records, but B&O has that overall grown sound and is sonically sweeter/more advanced. so what's the dilly?

disclaimer: all CLASSIC discs.

IMO I can't put "Balance & Options" ahead of "Safe + Sound" or "Rhythm-al-ism". I find myself skipping a couple tracks on "Balance & Options" while I can listen to "Safe + Sound" and "Rhythm-al-ism" straight through w/o skipping anything. I love "Pitch in ona Party", but "Safe + Sound" has several Quik classics.

recently i think u r right..

safe n sound is crisp sound wise..

but balance is right behind it...the album suffers one thing..the skits..and the bleeps

n the quiks groove on balance..is perfect when drvin in the rain

I'm with you 100%! Safe + Sound is a solid 3rd spot anyway.

I think I may be the only person here to NOT have Quik Is The Name at #1.

I rate Balance + Options so high that if it's not #1 itself, it's #2 period.

I would say Rhythm-al-ism is #1 whilst S+S sits at #3 or #4.

Balance + Options is something I never skip through when listening to. It was such a unorthodox but intriguing twist to his sound. It was different and that's why I like it.

As he always says, "it was a adult record, an album for grown ups". It just stands out from his whole catalog like Trauma did.
