Title: The best west coast album of 2011 has got to be
Post by: Triple OG Rapsodie on July 14, 2011, 07:56:41 PM
Before I Awoke, by Co$$. I liked Section 80 don't get me wrong. But I was a little disappointed because I felt Kendrick Lamar sacrificed song structure just to say something meaningful. Some of those songs lacked that head-nodding quality. Something that this album got right.

This song EXEMPLIFIED what should be the new G Funk dubcc is craving. I think its impossible to not love this shit:

Another song with crazy production:

Matter of fact, every song is sick. From lyrics to beats this album bangs period. This album came out in June and was on Dubcnn but I'm pretty sure dubcc slept on it. I did too but I'm up on it now.

That's a bad thing?

Mos definitely. Some artists forget this is music.

That was very amateur sounding. Didn't even feel like a song. Just some guy using an awkward flow over an awkward beat.sounded like a throwaway freestyle on an underground mixtape.

It's funny, your always complaining about song structure and artists that can't make songs. Then post this, which is basically just one long freestyle with no structure with pauses between verses and no hook  :-\

The second songs a bit better but nothing special at all.

Seems to me you just hate that certain other underground artist get more attention paid to them. Because these " songs" were nothing special

um....to each their own? I don't mind not having a hook. It's when the hook is weak that's the problem. Great song to me. Listen to the album :)

I was listening to Kendrick Lamar before Dre cosigned him....and Section 80 is his weakest album. Not sure what's that got to do with hate.

How is this a song? He's not saying shit but mixtape rhymes over a beat with no real direction. Doesn't that go against what you claim isn't a song?Your the one constantly going on about " that's not a song" " this has poor song structure."
But then you post this and say it's a great song? Rofl.  I'm not saying he's wack by any means so don't twist it like that but this is the exact definition of the shit your always bitching about. Freestyle rhymes with no song structure.

Seems like you just like to hate whatever everyone else likes and justify it with terrible excuses then contradict your own statements for an artist you like.

Section 80 is Kendrick Lamar's weakest album. If you want examples of what I consider better songs then check out his earlier work.

I wasn't referring to Kendrick, just speaking in general terms. You've said the same shit about numerous artists complaining about song structure.

Lol, again, what song structure? That first song has none according to your posts. What's it about? Nothing. Just random rhymes. The same thing you critic other artists on.

what posts? You have no idea what song structure means to me. I see now that this is about your love for Crooked I and how you can't stand how I pointed out that 99% of his songs are freestyles. Listen to the album before you compare them. Crooked I's goal should be to put out an album that comes together like this. If he put out an album on this level I would definitely be satisfied.

Wow I don't get it. So to you saying something meaningful in your music (which has been a lost art since pac died;other than joe budden) isn't as important as following the verse-hook-verse-hook-verse-hook format?

Fuck a song structure if it means real music.

I didn't say that.....to me song structure means the song was put together well. "Children's Story" is a song with great structure, and its got no hooks or even pauses. Fuck a format if the song works. 2Pac was a master of song structure so its funny you would bring him up.

A meaningful album vs A meaningful album that sounds better? Which one you think I'm gonna pick?

I think your just a weirdo that hates that people like certain other artists more then the ones you like. I don't care who you like or don't like, but stop saying hypocritical bullshit. You sound like such a moron half the time. This shit was no different then a freestyle track and you know it. I have no problem with that, but you love to say it isn't a song when other artists do the same shit. Make up your mind what you think is a song, it seems to change every other post.

you want to talk about Spice 2's definition of song structure, then make a thread about it. I made this to put others onto an album I liked. It got a few replies so mission accomplished. :) Why don't you listen to the album before you speak on it?

I think your just a weirdo that hates that people like certain other artists more then the ones you like

No I think that's you. Otherwise you wouldn't have posted here criticizing an album you haven't listened to. And watch, even if you do listen to the album, you'll only be doing it looking to find some flaw so you can post back here and argue with Spice 2 because he thinks Crooked I freestyles too much.

For the record, I still like Crooked I more than this guy. I've only been listening to Coss for a week.
