Title: "Should parents lose custody of obese children?"
Post by: Russell Bell on July 21, 2011, 11:06:27 PM
article i saw

http://yourlife.usatoday.com/parenting-family/story/2011/07/Should-parents-lose-custody-of-super-obese-kids/49320358/1 (http://yourlife.usatoday.com/parenting-family/story/2011/07/Should-parents-lose-custody-of-super-obese-kids/49320358/1)

mind boggling to think that people are advocating the govt literally taking children from families to raise them for raising them to eat unhealthy.  People, like these experts, confuse good ideas with good policy.  Look im not saying dont get the fat ass kids' some help, but for the govt to step in?  Not to mention the added cost of care for these behemoths.  The problem is people, like it or not, have the right to be fat just like they can smoke or drink or drive an unsafe car or have unprotected sex.

Bottom line: make the help available and not mandatory.  Everyones happy.

I dont buy that most people cant afford food.

What i do think is that people are too lazy to buy food and make that food for their kids, and instead drive on down to the micky d's which is easier for them in the short term.

Come on, how much does bread, lunchmeat, and fresh fruit cost?  Not much.

Veggies aren't cheap. But generally, it is cheaper.  In poorer areas, parents are working all day in a shitty job so that when they do go home they rather not cook.  The convenience of the drive thru is what makes it appealing, as well as the dollar menu.

you got aspartame in the soft drinks, almost every single one of them
You have fluoride in the water and thus in the drinks too, which attacks the thyroid
You have bread filled with chemicals and preservatives
You have good quality foods which are too expensive, so are replaced by foods which are full of sugar
Of course you have idiot parents who take their kids to McDonald's constantly but the piss poor ones don't
Google the various e numbers which are found in the contents of food and you will begin to get a window into just how toxic the foods are.

sugar is in damn near everything ! :o

& they put it there.

Then when they figured out the formula for like soda, to make it taste the same without the sugar, they put cancer causing substances in it.

So interesting the change of tides through history. Back in the day the more weight you had on you the more wealthy and upper class you were.

Instead of taking away their obese kids, maybe they could make the parents go to health classes as well as how to budget their money so they can afford healthier food.
